I was a HUGE Beatles' fan as a young girl, and yet I never heard of these wigs!

Maybe not in the USA..?
But here in OZ they were everywhere in the school yards. I can't remember where we got them ( maybe toy shop ) but they were very cheap to buy and they were very thin plastic and could crack or break easily.

The kids thought they were so cool..lol

I'm so glad none of them were ever on the ride with me!!!!

I remember my father telling me as a kid to place 2 bottles of beer in a brown paper bag on top of the garbage bin for the garbo's at christmass time. As I did so , I noticed everyone else in the street had done similar , wrapped presents and alcohol on top of almost every bin. And this was at about 5 or 6 pm.

Next morning as I rode my bike to friends house at about 7 am before the garbo's arrived , I noticed all the gifts were still there on top of the bins.

My point here is , try that today ...

What a kind gesture that was, that you all did for the 'garbos' at Christmas time.

I don't know how well that idea would work here today either. In the area where I live, some folks routinely drive the streets on the nite before garbage pickup day and look for 'treasures' in the trash that's been left at the curb. (So here, I suspect they'd find the 'gifts' before the 'garbos' would!)

They were highly respected for doing a "NESSESARY" job that nobody else wanted to do , it was hard work with two guys running and emptying the bins into the truck while the truck was still moving , so they had to be super fit as well.

The one I remember was called the Tilt-A-Whirl

I remember going into a liquor store to buy candy. Such as Lik-m-aid Fun Dip, Chick-O-Sticks, Bottle Caps, Razzles and Charms lollypops. The place is still there on the corner of Kester and Ventura Blvd in Sherman Oaks, California. It's amazing how much has withstood the test of time in that neighborhood.

I also remember the Wacky Package craze.

Not everything from the past was good.
In 1966 these three kids went missing , last seen on a beach and never seen or heard of again.

I remember my parents telling us that prior to this happening Australians never bothered to lock their windows or doors and let their kids run wild anywhere. Life in Oz apparently changed after this awful event , people were so shocked and scared.

Apparently the news about these poor kids on MSM went on for like months.

If I remember correctly , Tupperware parties went into the 70s and 80s here. Very popular item.

I remember when ... to talk about places like Australia, or China, or Russia, etc., seemed like talking about places that were located somewhere on another planet! (They all seemed so very far away!)

But all that has changed with modern advances in air travel, communications, etc. ... and especially the Internet!
(Now it is like we are all just 'neighbors'!)

I remember AC/DC first television performance , well they had a guitarist dressed as a school boy , so why not the lead singer as a school girl...lol
It was only done in fun and was received well.
