I am glad that we have replaced the leadership of the country with the Jersey Shore and Duck Dynasty wing of politicians.
I suppose we would have been safe from tariffs with Kamala in office

because she doesn't even know what a tariff is

Good comparison because we will never know but can suggest it would be much worse under her. I mean, under Kamala we would already be part of Mexico.

Oddly enough, in his explanation it's Trump who doesn't know how tariffs works. (. ..that is a tax on another country)
On the other hand Kamala (...tariffs are effectively a “sales tax” on American households) explained what they are and what they will do.

I will say that it's the funniest moment of trump so far, "to protect the best friend that each of those two countries has ever had," yeah.....trump reminds of an abusive husband, "I'm beating you because I love you."

Yes, we beat her and love her at the same time. If she hadn't been stealing money from our wallet for so long we wouldn't have to beat her.

Don't bash the Donald, he has a golden toilet and to some people, that means he is smart.

[In the House, Republicans have redefined yom to be an indefinite period of time, so the 15 yom waiting period before the president can be challenged will never expire.]

‘We Made a Mistake’: Republican Congressman Wants Congress to Take Back Tariff Power From President

Republican Congressman Don Bacon (R-NE) joined CNN on Thursday and proposed that Congress should reclaim its sole authority over U.S. tariff policy, which he argued Congress mistakenly ceded to the president.

Mistake? Mistake? You all deliberately ceded that power to the president.

Trump’s tariffs on Canadian lumber could result in toilet paper shortages in the U.S.
....oh man toilet paper riots 2025, 2020 was bad enough when it was just concerns about distribution and getting.

Trump aides prep new tariffs on imports worth trillions for ‘Liberation Day’

White House aides are preparing to impose new tariffs on most imports on April 2, laying the groundwork for an escalation in global economic hostilities that President Donald Trump has called “Liberation Day.”
AP News:

Trump has dubbed April 2 ‘Liberation Day’ for his tariffs. Here’s what to expect

Trump has repeatedly called April 2 “Liberation Day,” with promises to roll out a set of tariffs, or taxes on imports from other countries, that he says will free the U.S. from a reliance on foreign goods.

Fox News anchor says the American public should support the “war effort” of Trump's tariffs despite “this bumpy period”

Harris Faulkner: “When this nation used to go to war, people in this country would support the war effort with their materials at home and making things for weaponry and all that. We gotta do 100% buy-in over this bumpy period.”

Look, we have a president now that isn't whiffing anything and he's certainly not taking unmitigated risk. He can read the road ahead and make a deal; art of the deal. So part of that deal is making sure your shareholders, the actual people, not by money but by vote, understand what's coming. And those 401(k) people who are depending, those retirees, all of that, just talk in plain speak with them.

It's gonna be bumpy, and just keep patriotically spending.

Wasn’t the (hot) War in the Pacific in the early 1940s preceded by a “trade war”?

Cato Institute policy analyst writing in the New York Post

Trump’s bizarro-world tariffs will turn our economy upside down

In the comics, the supervillain Bizarro is the opposite of Superman in every way — and in the bizarro world of President Trump, tariffs are a magic bullet to revitalize the economy, lower consumer prices and protect American jobs.

Trump’s tariffs have also fueled the kind of Washington “swamp” activity he’s promised to eliminate. Tariffs create lucrative opportunities for lobbyists, lawyers and politically connected businesses to seek exemptions or special favors.

In Trump’s first term, thousands of businesses spent millions lobbying for tariff exemptions. Companies connected to the administration were significantly more successful at escaping tariffs than those without political influence.

Rather than draining the swamp, tariffs turn Washington into a feeding frenzy for special interests, enriching lobbyists at consumers’ expense.

Time for Republicans to find their capes and stand up as heroes for America’s economic good.

Good one for April Foo... Wait a moment... Published March 31
