  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Just the News was alerted to the conference and to Boasberg’s attendance by a retired Democrat-appointed judge, who was concerned the July 2024 conference’s focus on judges’ role in a democracy was too close to a political party’s theme for comfort.

No one should be surprised.

Anti-Trump as in
Pro Democracy
Pro Due Process
Pro Checks and Balances?
Sounds like judicial wisdom to me.

Let me see....attending a pro-democracy legal conference is bad, but accepting numerous vacations and lavish gifts from a billionaire is perfectly fine.

Got it.

-- A2SG, good to know the GOP has more than one standard for such things....

The GOP has lost all credibility to criticize anyone for pretty much anything. It's just all projection at this point. Every accusation is an admission.

I don't believe the judge is GOP. But it really doesn't make a difference, he personally defied a decision of the Supreme Court.

This comment makes no sense as a response to what I said.

And the attacks begin! What a surprise.

What matters is the law and due process. Trump and even Elon are not too far above the law, so far.

Judges are allowed to go on junkets.

He didn't defy anything, he simply doesn't agree with you that the 1948 wartime decision is relevant to the present situation.

-- A2SG, and, being a judge, he might just have a bit more legal knowledge than you....just as a guess....

The question is, did Trump violate the law who cares who the judge hangs with and how he votes?

Boasberg is going down. His future appointment will be the traffic court judge for Utqiagvik, Alaska
Whatever happened with Merchan? I thought he was the worst most evilest super most unfair mean judge to ever don a robe.

He's on his way to becoming a night court judge in a small Louisiana bayou town.

IMO, the progressive liberals in the USA have very rarely had acknowledged any credibility at all towards conservative politics, conservatives in the media, conservative politicians, and perhaps.... maybe even the average conservative American.

On the other hand, I admit that I think that conservatives have lost all sense of credibility for progressive left wing liberal politicians and the progressive liberals in the media.

The party of "Law and Order" who voted a convicted felon and adjudicated rapist into the highest office in the country? Those conservatives? Yeah, no one need take them seriously. Like I said. No credibility.

Most Americans know that the crimes that Trump was charged with were nothing more than weaponized lawfare from the Democratic Party leaders. If Most Americans actually BELIEVED the stuff that the Democratic Party wanted us to believe about Trump, then logic tells me that Trump would have lost the November elections in a landslide. However, one of the reasons Trump won is because the Democratic Party narrative has been rejected.

Yeah, so unfair! I mean, he sentenced Trump to the most lenient sentence possible: no jail time, no fine, no penalties whatsoever.

-- A2SG, how unfair can you get???

No, but the defendant in this particular case was arrested in 1941, and the deportation order was made in 1945 when we were. Justice can move slowly sometimes.

-- A2SG, these things take time, ya know....
