  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I guess they need to slow down. Just goes to show there are a LOT of them. Like we all knew. Get more flights out i guess.
Who knew that moving 3% of the population would be so hard?

On Saturday, the Trump administration told senior ICE officials to operate more aggressively, setting a target of 75 arrests per day for each of the agency’s 25 field offices. [75*25 = 1,875]

On Sunday, the following day, ICE made 1,179 arrests, up from 286 on Saturday, according to totals published by the agency. The agency reported 969 arrests Monday.
I wonder how the quotas are going.

Top ICE officials reassigned amid strain to meet Trump deportation goals

The demotion of top two officials in ICE’s enforcement division comes as officers scramble to ramp up the number of immigration arrests and deportations.

[O]ver the past week ICE has stopped issuing daily arrest figures, and the agency has struggled to keep pace with White House demands, even though officers are working six or even seven days a week at some locations, according to current and former ICE officials.

ICE staff were informed in an email Tuesday that Russell Hott and Peter Berg, the top two officials in the enforcement division of ICE, have been reassigned, according to the three people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the internal memo.

Todd Lyons, the top ICE official in Boston, will take over as the acting head of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations, according to the internal email. Garrett Ripa, from the agency’s Miami office, will be the deputy.

[Border czar] Homan has said in separate comments that he will investigate why some detainees taken into custody were let go. [catch and release has been a standard practice for decades, and unavoidable now that ICE has hit its 'bed' limits.]

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) said Homan and Office of Management and Budget chief Russell Vought told Senate Republicans at a closed-door lunch Tuesday that they desperately need more money for Trump’s crackdown. [emphasis added. 'I told you so' added.]

“I am begging you for money,” Graham said Homan said, adding that Vought told the lawmakers ICE is running out of money.

It sounds like we need more money then. I don't think anyone believed we wouldn't. Its a large project because Biden allowed so many illegals in. Put the blame where it belongs. It's like you breaking a window on purpose and then complaining about the cost of having to fix it.

Its ridiculous.

I understand that Trump has restored the name of an incompetent rebel general to Fort Liberty.
Nope, that would be illegal. Congress passed a law forbidding federal military bases to be named after Confederates.

It's now Fort PFC paratrooper Roland Bragg.

Thank You, Pfc. Roland L. Bragg, for Your Service

Fort Bragg is back. But not the way Confederate heritage groups were hoping.

The SCV is sad. Oh well. 160 years ago that loser Braxton Bragg was busy losing control of Wilmington, NC, the last Atlantic port held by the treasonous "confederates". (Not that old Braxton wasn't good at loosing battles, he was quite good at that.)

I am sure we can find palatable modern people who share a name with all the old Military bases and get them all changed back. Shouldn't cost a dime either so we won't have to worry about DOGE getting involved.

U.S. immigration agents rounded up undocumented migrants as well as American citizens in a raid of a Newark, New Jersey, worksite on Thursday that the city's mayor said involved detaining a military veteran and violations of the people's rights.

"In a raid of a business establishment in Newark, outside New York City, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents failed to produce a warrant as they detained "undocumented residents as well as citizens," [Mayor] Baraka said in a statement.

"One of the detainees is a U.S. military veteran who suffered the indignity of having the legitimacy of his military documentation questioned," Baraka said.
I am a US military Vet - and a minority. I remember driving home a little while back and this Police officer had the gall to pull me over - Lights - and he DETAINED me - I suffered the embarrassment of sitting on the side of the road in my very own neighborhood - where my friends live. While I suffered the indignity of having the legitimacy of my State issued documentation questioned.

Oh, the suffered wrong!

I'm thinking of suing the city.

Either that or the police officer was just doing his job and once confirmed I was on my way.

This is actually me. My passport photo. I was detained 36 times after 911 by TSA for a secondary inspection.

Why did not file a complaint?

Because they were doing their job.

On Saturday, the Trump administration told senior ICE officials to operate more aggressively, setting a target of 75 arrests per day for each of the agency’s 25 field offices. [75*25 = 1,875]

ICE struggles to boost arrest numbers despite infusion of resources

Since taking office, President Donald Trump has launched an all-of-government immigration crackdown with the urgency of a wartime effort, a mobilization comparable in scope to the responses to the 9/11 attacks and the coronavirus pandemic.

The president wants federal agents from across the government — even the Internal Revenue Service — looking for potential deportees, and the FBI says “thousands” of its employees are now supporting immigration operations. [Also DEA, US Marshals...]

ICE officers stormed out of the gates during the first 10 days of the administration. The agency did highly publicized enforcement raids in “sanctuary” cities run by Democrats, bringing along television crews and celebrities like Dr. Phil. For several days, ICE published its daily arrest numbers on social media, which started in the several hundreds per day and reached 1,179 on Jan. 26.

ICE arrests have sagged so far this month, according to data provided by the Department of Homeland Security, declining from about 800 per day in late January after Trump took office to fewer than 600 during the first 13 days of February. The administration has stopped publishing daily numbers, and Trump officials said they will release the data on a monthly basis to conserve resources. [<-- Ha!]

ICE spent weeks leading up to Inauguration Day preparing target lists of people they could arrest during the opening salvo of Trump’s promised crackdown. Those target lists have been depleted, and with so many officers working six or even seven days a week, the agency has had little time to do the research, surveillance and planning required to rebuild them and coordinate arrests, according to current and former ICE officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the strains.

Officers told to work extra shifts and postpone vacations have been assured they will be compensated, two current ICE officials said, but agency veterans say it’s unrealistic to expect arrests and deportations to keep rising without more money and personnel.

[Senator] Graham’s committee adopted a budget blueprint for legislation to boost border security and immigration enforcement by $175 billion.

Such an amount would have been unthinkable during Trump’s first term, when lawmakers hit an impasse over $5 billion for border wall funding and the government shut down for 35 days. The annual budget of the Department of Homeland Security is about $60 billion, including roughly $9 billion for ICE.

Trump also promised millions of deportations during his first term but topped out at about 267,000 during the 2019 fiscal year. ICE would have to deport more than 2,700 people every day to reach 1 million annually, and the agency has never tallied half that amount in a single year [even under President Obama, the reigning all time champ at deportation.]

Acting ICE director removed from his post due to frustration over pace of arrests, sources say

Acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Caleb Vitello is being removed from his role at the agency amid frustration over a slowdown in arrests in the interior of the US, according to multiple sources.

President Donald Trump ... selected Vitello to fill the post

“The Acting Director of ICE is not being fired — he is no longer in an Administrative role, but is overseeing all field and enforcement operations: finding, arresting, and deporting illegal aliens" [said DHS spox]

Acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Caleb Vitello is being removed

In late January, Vitello told ICE’s 25 field office directors they should arrest at least 75 immigrants per day for a national daily total of 1,200 to 1,500. ICE officers have been working six and even seven days a week since then, but Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi L. Noem and Trump “border czar” Tom Homan have blamed agency officials for falling far short of those goals. Homan did not respond to requests for comment.

Louisiana Secretary of Wildlife and Fisheries Madison Sheahan, a former campaign aide to Noem, is expected to become acting deputy director of ICE, according to two people familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a position that hadn’t been publicly announced. Sheahan was also executive director of the South Dakota GOP. A DHS official said that “positions are being reevaluated” and that the agency had “nothing new to announce at this time.” [emphasis added]

At least she can probably keep the jaguars and moose from crossing the border. Check the documents on the foreign animals in zoos.

That'll be just north of 2 million for the next 4 years. If the want to remove 12 million immigrants then they'll have up the ante a touch.
