I do not know how current this is. I would like to know.

I was reading an article about performers that were offered the super bowl and turn it down. One was Pink and the reason was that she was controversial enough already. She might take a knee at the national anthem and did not want to expose herself to public scrutiny.

I see nothing wrong if someone wants to show their respect in this way. I am not quite sure why there are people that have a problem with this. I suppose it has to do with tradition or something. My son was in the marching band for high school and college. Of course his attitude is what are those people doing on our field.

I remember Jessie Owens with the raised fist on the podium in front of Hitler. Now that was symbolic.

But I think like most things this type of protest or affirmation was spontaneous and for the time and needed.

Now it seems its become everything like it signifies a groups entire identity. The raised fist is interesting as its very symbolic of Marxism, especially defiant resistence. This became a symbol of BLM which says a lot.

I don't think people should specifically make a point of injecting their political or idrological beliefs into a public event which may have nothing to do with politics or religion. Otherwise if its allowed let every ideology display their alligences and beliefs. But that would be mayhem.

The problem is thanks to identity politics everyone has become hyper sensitive to differences and become divided. In the past when people made public displays it was usually a representation of the vast majority and unnoticed. Just what was expected within a God fearing nation.

But now God is being rejected in the public square its become a competition of ideologies and identities and more about virtue signalling. Of course we know that a house divided is a house on shaky ground.

I’m fairly certain that this is two separate events, taking place several decades apart.

I’m sorry, I don’t live in a country where thinking that other people are keeping God out of the public sphere, is something that we’re going to argue over. We have real problems to solve.

Some politicians use issues like racism to gain power and they even stoke racial tension and fears. That's why we see people taking a knee. They should be grateful that they are not living in Sudan and starving to death. Or in India or Pakistan where Christians are persecuted.

I was a republican but gave it up for Jesus. I'll give you my unbiased opinion. Politics is full of strife, discord, fear, worry, bitterness and hurt. God is in control not our politicians. Politicians who boast on the economy are not obeying God. Politicians who sow econonic fear, strife and worry are not obeying God. This means that all politicians lead us astray no matter how much good they may do.

I think that most people are the religion they are because of where in the world they live.

But they’re the people the rest of us rely on to hold things together while we run a society, bad talking them is as old as the hills but there’s nothing really new about any of this. It’s just our generation’s turn at the helm.
Don’t worry, we’ll be alright.

Most people are not me. Sure i was raised Christian but I follow Jesus because he put great joy, peace and love in my heart. I'm overwhelmed with joy. It's like Jesus said, a river of living water flowing from within. And I have depression induced psychosis. But that doesn't stop me from rejoicing in his love.

I'm not worried. People who follow the world will never know the Lord. That's their decision.

The issue at hand is that people often fail to respect others' right to hold differing opinions. This lack of mutual respect signifies the failure of the American Experiment and suggests that it is time for a new era to begin, which some refer to as the Kingdom Age.

Voltaire (1694-1778) is a notable figure in this context. He was a French Enlightenment writer and philosopher known for his staunch advocacy of freedom of speech and religion. One of his famous quotes is, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

The issue is you have two sides. Those who follow Jesus and those who do not. I'm sorry but there is no friendship with the world. We love people and help them, even our enemies, but we have no agreement because God's spirit leads us and the world is God's enemy.

I thought the issue of keeping God out of the public sphere was something people in the US argued about. Or were concerned about. Religious freedom and all that.

The intent was to protect religion from the gov. The liberal agenda has it backwards and they want to try to protect the gov from religion. That is why our Government will fail because they no longer want to protect the rights of others.

Yes very good quote.

I have witnessed this transition in my lifetime. We have moved from the multicultural aspirations of of different people being one to the identity politics of DEI where the 'one' becomes divided into identity groups thus fixating on differences.

All those years marching through the universities and into the institutions and society to bring about some DEI utopia and its produce the exact opposite. Society is less tolerant of differences and even antisemetism is back. Shows you what a waste of money liberal academia is.
