Trump previously signed a memorandum that ordering HHS and the Pentagon to prepare 30,000 beds. That was on January 30th.
Well, that's cosy. Water mattresses perhaps? Maybe some nice queen size ones with matching bed side tables. A reading light and aircon to be sure. Do you think carpets or just a couple of throw rugs? I'd go the latter. I've been to Cuba and boy, it gets mucho calor.
Actually, the memo said no such thing about 30,000 beds. Whoever told you that was lying.
Expanding Migrant Operations Center at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay to Full Capacity – The White House
Apart from some legalise at the end, this is all it said:
'I hereby direct the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Homeland Security to take all appropriate actions to expand the Migrant Operations Center at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay to full capacity to provide additional detention space for high-priority criminal aliens unlawfully present in the United States, and to address attendant immigration enforcement needs identified by the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security.
This memorandum is issued in order to halt the border invasion, dismantle criminal cartels, and restore national sovereignty.'
But note the reference to 'high-priority criminal aliens'. These are the really bad dudes that Trump wants held there. Maximum security required, I'd say. Not just beds. Who knows what that would cost! Oh, hang on. I just checked.
Seems that they're building a super sized one in Alabama. Although 'super sized' means only 4,000 bad dudes can be incarcerated. So you do the maths for 30,000. And road access for building materials and constructor access will be pretty easy in ol' Alabamy, so add whatever percentage you think will be applicable for building in a bay in the middle of nowhere in a country that really doesn't like you guys to which you are going to have to ship every cubic metre of concrete, every 4x2, every nail and every length of reo after you've delivered it to...wherever it's got be shipped from.
Ah yeah. The price? A nice round
one billion dollars.

Trump Wants to Detain 30,000 Migrants at Guantanamo Bay. It Can Hold Only 130 Now.
In a pre-recorded
video uploaded to social media Thursday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had little more to add beyond noting that the Pentagon was "leaning forward on supporting the president's directive."
"We're working that in real time," he added.'
Which sounds very much to me like 'We're making this stuff up as we go...
