  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Next up, it looks like Trump will sign the Laken Riley bill, which will require even more resources (and/or letting lots of current detainees out).]

From here: Trump threatens to open migrant detention center at Guantánamo Bay amid confusion over White House orders – live

'Trump has signed the Laken Riley Act, the first legislation to receive his signature since taking office last week. At a desk in the White House’s East Room, Trump was surrounded by legislative sponsors of the bill as well as members of Riley’s family.

The controversial measure was approved over the concerns of legal experts and immigration advocates who warned that the measure tramples immigrants’ right to due process while failing to address very real problems with the country’s overwhelmed immigration system. The bill directs authorities to detain and deport immigrants who are accused, though not convicted, of theft-related crimes if they are unlawfully present in the US.

It does not include additional funding for implementation, a concern raised in a memo from the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).'

Wow, I never thought I would say this but President Trump needs at least one person who can figure out the detention of thousands of people. GTMO gets it's food by barge from Florida weekly, that's a logistics nightmare in of itself, forget thousands of extra people. We need to set up a detention center in some remote area that discourages escape but is still accessible. Florida everglades or Nevada desert comes to mind.

From what I've seen so far, it's a ship of fools. Plenty of huff and puff but no practical sense of what needs to be done or how to do it.

For some comparison, the largest jail system in the US is Los Angeles County Jail system, which generally handles about 12,000 inmates. Staff required are around 4,700 (figures from here: Los Angeles County Jail System by the Numbers). So the equivalent number of staff required for 30,000 bad dudes would be 11,750.

Guantanamo is obviously a military base. Is Trump going to have that many DoD servicemen looking after these people? The budget for LA is close to a billion dollars. How long is he going to keep them there and where's the money coming from? Will they have access to due process? Have they been convicted? The number of people detained at Guantanamo has been less than 800. So that might be the number of secure cells. The number of servicemen are around 8,500 (Guantanamo Bay Naval Base - Wikipedia). So where does the 30,000 figure come from?

How's logistics for the Moon?

The Department of Defense said it approved a request from ICE for facilities inside the Buckley Space Force Base in Aurora, Colorado, to be converted into temporary staging and detention sites for migrants in the U.S. illegally who are facing deportation.

Most of the 8500 at GTMO don't work at the camp and some don't even know where it is. Yes, I know google earth.

Where does it sound like Luis Janota, the owner of Ocean Seafood Depot, was arrested?
Why else would he be hanging around violent illegal criminals when ICE did their raid? This is no secret. Trump has been very open and vocal about his position so let me break things down for you. Trump is targeting the violent 'worst of the worst' illegal alien criminals. So lets say ICE conducts a raid to target a known illegal immigrant who is a MS13 gang member who sells fentenal and has committed violent crimes. They conduct a raid of the house that the criminal is located and they find several other illegal immigrants and a couple US citizens. ICE will then arrest their target and detain everyone in the home while they do their investigation. Although the other parties were not their primary target, if the investigation finds that the other individuals are in the country illegally, regardless of their criminal history, they will also be arrested and deported. Then there is the issue about the citizens. It is likely that they were aware of the illegal status of the others and failed to report them. Therefore, they would be guilty of harboring illegal immigrants. Which is a crime. Thus, the US citizens would also be arrested for harboring illegal immigrants and will have their day in court to plead their case. Does that make sense? So, I trust that law inforcement did their due dilligence and arrested these citizens based on probable cause and they will have their day in court. God is doing great things with Trump as president.

Not sure how you get that from the article.
Let me ask you a question. How many violent illegal immigrant gang members do you hang out with? Best believe that with this current admistration, if you are at a house that is filled with violent illegal immigrant gang members and other illegal migrants while ICE conducts a raid to capture the worst of the worst, would you be suprised if the officers have enough probable cause to arrest you for harboring these people?

According to the DHS website, all states and territories are real ID compliant.
In that they are issuing them. Some people will never get one. They will shortly be required by TSA instead of a regular driver's license, but a passport will still work as well. In any case, there are various documentary ways of proving citizeship and as far as I am aware, it is against the law to specify only one of these ways when proof of citizenship is required.

Maybe Diaz-Canel will ask Google to change it to El Golfo de Cuba. And maybe Greenland will become the Red-White-And-Blueland.
