I wasn't aware of #3, how much do people usually give for these? And do you give it directly to the priest, or do you just put it in the tithe box/basket at church?
Around here, the tradition is to offer the priest a meal after doing a home blessing. But our priest has asked us not to offer that because he ends up eating too much in January. :) I gave some cash directly to the priest and deacon when they performed the memorial service for my mom, but that was partly because she was buried in her hometown which was quite a drive away, and you know, used some gasoline up. They didn't ask for it, but I felt it was right to do.

Alas, too many of our priests here seem to have accepted every offer of food out of humility. Maybe we should offer them gym membership instead ^_^

I tell my people to centralize all food at a final potluck when I am at the last house for house blessings.
