The DOJ inspector general said Thursday that while no undercover agents were at the rally, 26 confidential human sources – or paid FBI informants – were in Washington that day, none of whom were authorized to break the law themselves or encourage others to do so.

The findings are part of a long-awaited report into the FBI’s preparations before the 2021 attack from Trump supporters trying to stop the confirmation of Joe Biden’s presidential election victory.

Of the 26 informants who were in Washington, DC, that day, three had specifically been tasked by the FBI to report on specific domestic terrorism case subjects who may be going to the rallies on January 6, the report says. One of those informants entered the Capitol itself, while the other two remained outside on the grounds.

The other 23 went to Washington on their own and were not tasked to do so by the FBI, the IG report states. Of those 23, three informants entered the Capitol during the riot and an additional 11 entered the grounds.

So much for Republican claims that the entire crowd consisted of FBI agents.
I had not heard that claim. The report says that four FBI assets went into the Capitol and 13 went into a restricted area. That means, at a minimum, seventeen people reporting to the FBI committed crimes. I am sure Wray's testimony and the testimony of others will be reviewed and Biden administration officials may very well be prosecuted.

Mere observers, those who did not trespass or instigate illegal activities, will not face any consequences at all. It is important that the entire truth come out, all testimony before Congress, all Justice Department information.

lol, I categorically DENY that I had pancakes for breakfast, because I call them hotcakes.
Informants are not agents no matter what you call them.

Hopefully we will find out.
You stated that "Some were only FBI interns." as though that were a fact. Now you are backtracking.

We can already see many Democrats are trying to make things difficult for the new administration.
Sure, sure. The congressional committee has made its findings available to the public. Trump has proposed jailing the committee members. But it is the Democrats making things difficult...right.

The number of people charged for Jan 6th who didn't enter the building or commit acts of violence doesn't require anyone to take off their socks to count. This is out of about 10,000 people who were on the Capitol grounds illegally.

Of those who entered the Capitol and didn't enter the Senate chamber or commit violence only about half have gotten charged. Three informants who did only that and didn't get charged is completely unremarkable.

Yeah yeah nothing to see here. Why do you think Liz is considered for pardon?

What makes you think she was actually considered for a pardon? There was some unsourced talk about granting some sort of pardon for a large number of people that investigated Trump for one or more of his various violations of the law because Trump's attack dogs want to investigate and charge them. There is no reason to think any of those people committed any crimes at all. At least with the FBI informants there is an actual crime known to have been committed. Could you stick with the subject of the thread and not go into irrelevancies? Thanks.

Wrey couldn’t tell the truth about it but he will be gone and that is what really matters.

Yes,they are...they are government agents for a limited purpose (typically to reduce their own sentences). They are not employees, but when you do work on behalf of an agency, you represent that agent in limited form.

Of course there is. Liz had unauthorized contact with Cassidy Hutchinson, and we will see if the nature of their contact warrants prosecution. At this point it sounds like it does.
