MAGA Declares Vindication After DOJ IG Report on FBI and Jan. 6 Riot

Published Dec 14, 2024

Supporters of President-elect Donald Trump and his Make America Great Again (MAGA) political movement declared vindication after the Department of Justice's (DOJ) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) released a report about the involvement of FBI informants in the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot.

Nearly four years ago, a mob of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C., in a failed attempt to stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden's 2020 election win. The riot erupted following repeated claims from then-President Trump that the election was stolen from him via widespread voter fraud despite there being no evidence of such claims.

The new watchdog report on Thursday revealed that 26 confidential human sources (CHSs) who were working for the FBI were in Washington D.C., on January 6. The informants were not authorized to enter the Capitol or commit illegal acts, but four of them entered the Capitol building, and 13 others entered the restricted area around it. Despite this, none of these informants have faced prosecution.

Yes, it's factual that MAGA declares vindication.

What's not so factual is any evidence to that effect.

Lol, what vindication? The IG cleared the FBI of wrong doing.
IGs are notoriously rubber stamps for wrongdoing. I filed a complaint with the IG of the Defense Department and they said they sent it to the organization and the guy would be given a talking to.

I'm sure you're correct about that but the IG's report is what the OP used to "vindicate" MAGA.

Not all Jan 6th participants participated in criminal activity, 95% were simple attendees without criminal actions
That is a fantasy at the capital.

Wow, castigating an entire department of the government with nary a proof in sight!
What’s “conservative” about tearing down institutional norms?

The system working, is evidence that the system is corrupt?

I have decades of experience confronting wrongdoing in the federal government. But it's not a big secret that federal workers can be difficult to fire.

I would imagine that there are varying levels of discipline available for managers of the various departments and agencies of the Federal Government that fall well short of terminating of this (or that) employee.

I've encountered many situations where people should have been fired but there were zero negative consequences. I've told you about IGs. Congress is pretty ineffective in oversight, people who have been in the executive branch know how to handle those who question their actions, including Congressional inquiries:

“Let me tell you, you take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you,” Schumer told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow.

Schumer and this comment keeps coming back. It just says it all. A warning of what he in fact knew before it even really got started. And he said it in a manner that it was just the norm.
