Toronto police arrested Jewish journalist Ezra Levant of Rebel News during a pro-Hamas rally in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood at Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue. Levant was covering a weekly anti-Israel counter-protest when police ordered him to move away from the rally, citing that his presence was “inciting the crowd.”

Levant refused, alleging discrimination and stating, “I’m refusing to leave because I’m a Jew, and I’m a citizen.” Officers informed him he was under arrest for “breaching the peace.” Protesters cheered during the arrest, shouting slurs like “Zionist” and “loser.”

What is this stuff? Sounds more like 'influencers' than news.
He's a hardcore poop disturber on the far right side of the spectrum.

He went there to antagonize people and got arrested.

I'm not a fan of indviduals who carve their life in such a way that they are just trying to antagonize others.

...So because we don't like his political "lean", it's okay to arrest him filming a protest in Canada.

Wow. If that's how liberals think, then it's a scary thing. I certainly could never be that shallow-minded.

So it's okay to violate reporters rights, as long as they work for smaller, lesser known agencies? Is that your opinion? Because that's how it comes off.

Or is it mostly because he's a Jew, that his rights don't matter?

Its that Im skeptical we're hearing the real story rather than something spiced up to fit a polemic.

You think the reporter may have been screaming profanities at the protesters before the cameras started rolling? I doubt that, considering the police freed him with no charges, and now are attempting to sweep it under the rug.

...This truly looks like antisemitism to me. 100%. And caught on camera for all to study and dissect.

Wait, since when has "Zionist" been a slur?

Depends on the context in which it's being used...

But it has been used as a dogwhistle in "certain circles" for quite a while.

...They labelled him a Zionist before having him expelled from the public area.

It's not okay to expel "Zionists" from whatever public areas we decide on, day to day. It's also not okay to throw bottles at Jewish school girls faces, like we see in London.

Ezra Levant is founder and CEO of Rebel News, but I'm sure that it is not biased in any way...

My question is: since when is "Zionist" a slur? That is a simple question that in no way implies those other things are okay.

This is a major issue in Europe also. Anti-Semitism is on the rise. I have a T-shirt with a star of David. If I wear it am I inciting violence because a bunch of Muslim or leftist antisemites get riled at the sight of it? If more big blonde blue-eyed people wore the T-shirt maybe these anti-semites would be less confident in their hatred of Israel and the Jews.

Hey, I'm a big blond, green eyed person, that's a good idea.

I LOVE Jews!

Yeah, it could be biased, IDK.

But of course, you definitely are shocked and opposed by his removal and arrest from his neighborhood. You're as outraged as I am about it.

Ironically, many anti-Semites are strong Zionists and pro-Israel. They don't like Jewish people but love the very idea of the Jewish state, conveniently over there.
