I wouldn't brag too much about Putin liking Australia.
He wasn't the guy that was invited. He most definitely wouldn't get in. We don't cozy up to people like that.

By means of the democratic process. You'll be familiar with that. It was the process that the next guy tried to overthrow a few years ago. It was in all the papers. You must have seen it.
Now you're just adding words to what biden said. Can't you make an argument based on what he actually said?

All the more reason he might use Australia as his first nuclear target to set an example. All those prisoners sent there most likely would be seen by Putin as collateral damage.

Then why is Russia now using NK troops, using ICBMs, and adjusting their nuclear weapons use doctrine if he knows he just has to wait for Trump?
Better question: Why is our current "president" who wasn't fit to be tried, nor to run for re-election--both for the same reason--now being allowed to push us closer to a nuclear exchange with Russia rather than trying to de-escalate things?
And then January comes.

No explosions because duh. That's ludicrous paranoia.

In what alternative reality do you imagine a president thinking about preventing a transfer of power by starting a nuclear war that would kill billions?
I'm sure it it doesn't happen they'll be a totally rational reevaluation of the sources of the messaging selling this particular story...

You sure are putting a lot of faith in Putin to not do what the USA would probably do if Russia was supplying Mexican drug cartels with long range missiles that are able to strike anywhere in the USA, including Washington DC.

Oh look. An imaginary hypothetical that is not an equivalent situation.

A comparison. Mexico is country neighboring the USA, just as Ukraine is a neighboring country to Russia. Understand so far?
USA giving weapons to Ukraine to use against Russia is seen the same way as if Russia supplied weapons to Mexico to use against us. We would see it as Russia using Mexico as a proxy to attack us. Same as how Russian nukes in Cuba in the 60s was a Russian threat to us--and nearly sparked a nuclear war at that time.
But kids these days don't learn history anymore.

It doesn't make a lot of sense from a military point of view. IT would be like using a bazooka to shoot rabbits.
Yeah, Putin just likes waving his you-know-what around. The "hypersonic" missiles that they've used are similarly overkill, but it lets them say that they've got an operational hypersonic weapon. In both cases, there's also the intimidation factor.

It looks like certain people in this country will only be convinced once a nuke is detonated. Then it's on to plan B: Blame Trump.

No. I'm very aware.

Of course the Mexican GOVT has a very cordial relationship with the American government.

You suggested Mexican drug cartels. That is not a government. It is also not seen favorably by rhe Mexican government.

I'm not sure how any of that is comparable to the Ukraine. And seems like a messed up way to think about Ukraine and tour allies in Europe; comparing them to Mexican drug cartels.

Pretty clear so far. Then the US invades Mexico for no reason. Now Mexico isn't a member of SATO (South American Treaty Organisation). All the countries from Guatemala on down are, as is Russia. All the countries in South America are wary of what the US is doing and they all chip in to help Mexico. As does Russia, because all the countries are duty bound to help protect each other when attacked. And nobody wants US troops on the Mexico Guatemala border.

Now that is a more accurate analogy.

"Russian troops launched various missiles, reportedly including an intercontinental ballistic missile from the Astrakhan region, in an early morning attack on Ukraine on Thursday.

Ukraine's Air Force said on its Telegram account that it destroyed six Kh-101 cruise missiles using anti-aircraft combat.

The Russian attack hit critical infrastructure in the central-eastern city of Dnipro, according to the air force."

Technically it was not an ICBM since it was launched in Europe at a European target. An Artillery shell could be intercontinental if lobbed over the Urals. Cruise missiles have been in use for decades and could carry nuclear warheads.

Yet you don't seem aware of the threat posed by the use of even a single nuclear weapon by the country (Russia) that is backed into a corner and has every incentive to use them.

How do you see them as being backed into a corner?

I disagree that they have any incentive to use them. Any country that uses nuclear weapons will become a world pariah.

They're being attacked in all parts of their country, including the capital, and the arms are supplied by NATO nations which is a violation of NATO treaty.
Don't forget that nuclear weapons are possessed by countries as a deterrent against attacks from other countries. The implication being that they can be used against the attackers. It's not wise to call the bluff of a nuclear armed nation.

Really? Like tomorrow, or still way further down the road?
How he goes about it probably would determine that.
I can't see him throwing all they have. That would mean certain death for everyone.
We know that won't happen, though, don't we?

What? No they are not. Do you have any idea how big Russia is?
