  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As you well know, she's a candidate for POTUS.

According to your reasoning, Donald J Trump was using his position as President to slander Joe Biden in the 2020 campain.
I'd like to see the time Trump gave a speech from the White House about Biden being a Hitler-like fascist.

Liberals are offended by the word "ladylike"?

SMH

Women should be women, men should be men.

IF you are confused about biology, go back to high school

;)

Except what many call lady like really just means, "What we in the west think." and such. How much of that plays into the toxic masculinity, "Men don't cry, and woman can't be angry and must always be polite." nonsense.

I think lady like is just treating people right...beyond that....I don't support sexism.

You have no idea, but you know all that. What specific event is that photo taken from? I'd like to check out what was actually happening.
This use of the White House as a backdrop for the convention was unprecedented in modern politics and drew criticism for blurring the line between official government business and campaign activities

Careful - if a Republican used such wording they would be labeled misogynistic - the words show a glaring hatred of women.

But being liberal you are most likely safe.

Like I said:

People will take exception to you using the term.

“Donald Trump is increasingly unhinged and unstable, and in a second term, people like John Kelly would not be there to be the guardrails against his propensities and his actions. Those who once tried to stop him from pursuing his worst impulses would no longer be there and no longer be there to rein him in,” Harris said.

As if slandering Trump during her campaign rallies wasn't enough, now Harris is using her position as Vice President of the United States, making a speech behind the official seal of the Vice President, and with the Vice Presidential flag behind her to slander Trump with more accusations.
Is slandering a political opponent now considered to be an official act of the Vice President? Or is she just abusing her position?

She added: “It is clear from John Kelly’s words that Donald Trump is someone who, I quote, ‘certainly falls into the general definition of fascists’, who, in fact, vowed to be a dictator on day one and vowed to use the military as his personal militia to carry out his personal and political vendettas.”

If she's going to make these types of remarks about a political opponent, she should save it for the campaign trail, and not do it as an official act of her office.

I believe what she did is a violation of the Hatch act isn't it?

Did he call Biden a Hitler-like dictator (or similar) from the White House with the presidential seal in front of him?

Giving examples of other things Trump from the White House with the presidential seal in front of him, that aren't the same as that, are false equivalencies. Also known as comparing apples to oranges.

Different standard
I was gonna do one of those twist your word things but instead I'll just say.

You are correct that Trump and presidential candidates are held to a different standard.

It's absurd to think a citizen and a presidential candidate should be held to the same standard of behaviour. In communities TEACHERS are held to a high standard...and now you won't hold your own candidate accountable.

Yeah, but did Donald Trump say something critical of his opponents while being a woman, or being black? Nope. Check mate liberals.

Again, "yes" / "no" would be better, rather than taking the word-salad route.
I disagree, which is why I answered the way I did.

And, I gotta say, what I did say was pretty direct and cogent...I have no idea why you call it "word salad." I wonder if it's an attempt to confuse what the term means, so that it loses all meaning when it's directed to Trump. Curious...

-- A2SG, sorry if I didn't respond the way you wanted....that happens sometimes.....

Again, a yes/no answer required. Keep trying.

Plenty of chances to answer the way you wanted me to. Instead, I answered the way I wanted to.
