  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Amen to this. Even though I am not a fan of Musk (cos of End Times tech such as the brain chip, and his personality), his SpaceX company has truly innovated the field of rocketry and space travel. Mr. Musk, take us to Warp 3. :)

Little 30 second video. SpaceX got a few "wows" out of me!

Wow, it feels like we are living in a Star Trek movie. :) This is totally badass, landing a rocket on chopsticks. The onboard video I have not seen yet until you showed it to me. Thank you, brother.

Now for the booster return home.

Amen to the booster returning home. Today, I watched a Matt Lowne video that explained the booster catch, and he seemed very enthusiastic. The flammables leaking out is a little disturbing. Hopefully, SpaceX could prevent fires on the booster. It is cool how the booster was lowered and aligned with the OLM.

Remember, real men and women enjoy big machines such as rockets. :) Nothing cooler than a rocket being caught with some chopsticks.

SpaceX Just Won The Biggest Contrat Because Of Starship

Nice. Will this Starship go to Mars? By the way, is it me, or does the narrator have a bland voice? It seems that this almost $1B contract will involve top secret satellite launches on the Falcon Heavy. Would have been cool if Starship would launch these satellites, but the Starship is still a prototype. More work has to be done on Starship.

From an article: "The contracts worth $733.5 million span seven missions for the Space Development Agency (SDA) and two for the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) projected to launch in late 2025 and 2026. These are part of the NSSL Phase 3 procurement of launch services for U.S. defense and intelligence agencies."

The video with the robot voice makes this claim, but the DoD contract is for 2 Falcon Heavy launches, not Elon's Mars-fantasy tin can. (as the video clearly states)

Yeah, I noticed that also. The video was a little click-baity if you ask me, as it did not discuss the Starship being used to launch the satellites. Also, the artificial intelligence* voices, or bland narrators in videos (if the narrator is human) has gotten out of hand.

How does anything get out of a starship anyway. It has never been clear how anything gets out of the starship. It looks like a 50s sci-fi rocket.

Yeah, the AI robot is annoying. I have no idea either how the Starship works, but apparently the flights have gotten better. The ship does look like something out of the late 1950s. And yes, Musk will probably delay the Mars launch until 2060 at this rate, or run out of money.

"Good golly, Ms. Molly, it is a tin can with flames comin' out the back."

- Fictional quote

From Wikipedia (only main source):
For satellite launch, Starship is planned to have a large cargo door that opens to release payloads, similar to NASA's Space Shuttle, and close upon reentry instead of a jettisonable nosecone fairing.

The US Space Force’s collaboration with SpaceX is taking U.S. defense strategies to a new level using Falcon Heavy rockets, but how will this unprecedented partnership shape the future of national security?

At a Glance
The USSF-44 mission marked the first National Security Space Launch on a Falcon Heavy rocket since 2019.
This successful mission deployed diverse payloads into geosynchronous orbit, showcasing SpaceX’s capabilities.
The partnership with SpaceX demonstrates the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of reusing rocket boosters.
The USSF-44 set the stage for several upcoming missions, including USSF-67.
The collaboration has secured a $733 million contract for additional launches to support national security.
A New Era in National Defense
The US Space Force and SpaceX executed the USSF-44 mission, marking a significant step forward in national defense through their innovative partnership. This mission, the first National Security Space Launch on a Falcon Heavy rocket since June 2019, showcased new capabilities in managing space-based information networks for national defense. By deploying a variety of payloads into geosynchronous orbit, it underscored the critical role of private sector advancements in defense strategies.

The following is a summary from an internet A.I. web search:

SpaceX and the US Space Force have collaborated on several initiatives to develop advanced defense capabilities. Notable projects include:

  • Starshield: A satellite network designed to support national security efforts, utilizing SpaceX’s Starlink constellation with unique Department of Defense terms and conditions. Starshield provides high-speed broadband, space domain awareness, and alternative positioning, navigation, and timing capabilities.
  • National Security Launches: SpaceX has secured $733.5 million in contracts from the US Space Force for eight national security launches, supporting the deployment of key defense assets, including satellites.
  • Potential Use of Starship: The US Department of Defense has explored the possibility of using SpaceX’s Starship as a government-controlled vehicle for “sensitive and potentially dangerous missions.” This would involve a temporary takeover for operational security, legal issues, and to avoid concerns about SpaceX’s militarization.

Key Takeaways

  1. Collaboration: SpaceX and the US Space Force are working together to develop advanced defense capabilities, leveraging SpaceX’s commercial expertise and the Space Force’s military requirements.
  2. Satellite-based Capabilities: Starshield and other satellite projects aim to provide critical defense assets, including high-speed broadband, space domain awareness, and alternative navigation and timing capabilities.
  3. Launch Services: SpaceX’s national security launches will support the deployment of key defense assets, demonstrating the company’s capabilities in this area.
  4. Potential Starship Use: The US military is considering using Starship as a government-controlled vehicle for sensitive missions, highlighting the potential for collaboration between SpaceX and the military in this area.

Hopefully SpaceX could use this technology to end the wars in Europe and the Middle East. Now, if SpaceX could develop phasers and force fields, we could stun everyone in the Kremlin and the Hezbollah leaders, send in a SWAT team, place them on the brig of the Starship, if SpaceX could build a jail on that ship. That means we could have world peace. :)

Just kidding on the last part, but tech is fascinating.

How? All SpaceX is doing is launching things other people (defense contractors) build plus operating their cloud of low-orbit comm satellites (starlink). None of that is going to end any wars on the efforts of SpaceX.

Yeah, I was joking on the last part. Starship Troopers from SpaceX does sound cheesy, and if someone made a TV show like that, I'd rather gouge my own eyes out.

But yes, all the satellites launched by SpaceX are not made by SpaceX, but with outside companies such as defense contractors or commercial entities. For instance, if Lockheed wanted to launch a satellite, they could pay SpaceX to launch it.
