  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You are not welcome in a Harris America

I thought that as you had so many complaints about secular laws then you might have wanted to propose some alternatives.
I had lunch with a friend who happened to be an atheist. We were talking just friendly like. He stated that you cannot legislate morality. I suggested that this means all laws are immoral or amoral. He laughed and agreed.

People are silly if they think "secular law" has no religion in it. Of course, there is religious law in it. It may not be theistic religion, but it is religion. All the horrors of Communism, Nazism, Dictatorships, and such are based on secularism, a religion unto itself.

Nazism was certainly not secular, although there were some high ranking individual Nazis who were highly anti-Christian and Hitler repeatedly expressed anti-Catholic sentiment. Under Nazism, the state and various Christian denominations (mostly Protestant and Roman Catholic) actively coordinated with each other - at least initially, the relationship progressively fractured at the end of the 1930s and into the 1940s.

The NSDAP sought to mobilise Christian fears about 'atheistic Communism' as part of its efforts to win public support. There was also an effort under Nazism to unite all the German churches into a single body, known as the 'Confessing Church', although this was only marginally successful and resulted in lots of pushback from other denominations.

The NSDAP also pushed is own version of Christianity, known as 'Positive Christianity'. This was an ethno-theistic construct based around concepts of Aryan racial purity, loyalty to the Party and antisemitism., playing down the role of Jesus and playing up Hitler as a mythic figure (weird).

There was also an offshoot/alternative Christian theology that developed in the 1920s and 1930, known as 'German Christianity' and was supported by the Nazis. This mixed in elements of Lutheran and Evangelical theology with various older German traditions dating back to the days of the Holy Roman Empire.

Dictatorships aren't necessarily secular either. There are a number of existing dictatorships that are official Christian at present, and plenty of examples from the 19ths and 20th centuries (Franco, Habyarimana, Salazar). Not to mention all the other religious dictatorships.

He and I both agree (that they're amoral).

There's a fine line between what we should legislate against and what we decide is immoral. There's often an overlap. But I won't say that everything that causes harm is therefore immoral. But the reverse is true in that something cannot be immoral if it causes no harm. And we legislate to prevent harm.

Something tells that your friend might agree with that as well. See what he thinks the next time you see him and let me know. Or better still, get him to join the forum. Tell him it's an interesting place for a discussion.

There is evidence that Kamala reacted to the proclamation "Jesus is Lord" and said, "Oh, you guys are at the wrong rally."
So, if you are in the voting booth and plan to vote for Harris, remember that she said you are at the wrong rally.

I'm tempted to say that if someone is daft enough to think that Harris was being derogatory to Christianity at that rally then they'd be daft enough to use their vote to protest.

In another thread we have people saying that Trump is saying that the Democrats are going to ban cows and windows (yes, I know - it's a remarkably stupid thing to suggest). But people believe that as well.

You know, if Trump somehow does manage to win then all I will say at that point is that you really did deserve him. If there are enough people believing this bulldust then the country deserves everything it gets.

They say that you get the leaders you deserve. I've travelled enough of the US to know that you guys deserve better.

You are not American, aye?
I can read your newpapers but I don't know what is really happening on the ground.
You do not know what is happening anymore than what the Australian media reports
And our media reports even less.

These are serious issues in this country as energy is a very serious business, as are cows. The American media does not report the latest bans in CA for instance. Yes, it is not Biden, himself. It is his administration but it is a creeping mess, banning gas stoves and there is a link posted on that thread you mentioned which documents that.
What Biden has wrought, yes, the voters do deserve that but let's hope they correct it and not vote in a Biden Clone.

Do you think I get my news by picking up an actual newspaper now and then?

There's this thing called the internet, to which I have access. It allows me instant access to all US media. Some I'd have to pay for but it's all available. So I do know what's going on there. Better than you it seems, because I knew that Trump was lying when he made those quotes. You didn't. Although you linked to an article on that internet thingy which actually proved it to be a lie. So you should have known.

So by the wonders of modern technology, we can all check to see if that candidate is lying when he makes a claim. And he more than likely is lying because he has been found to prefer it to telling the truth.

I was going to say that I really don't know why. But it's plainly obvious. When he says something as galactically stupid such as banning cows and windows, people actually believe him. And then they think - 'Hey, I like steaks and I like looking through windows, so I'd better vote for this guy'.

Yeah, I know. It's difficult to comprehend. But that's the current level of political debate in the US. It's cows and windows, eating pets, Hannibal Lecter, sharks and batteries and size of the genitalia of Open winning golf players.

Y'all have just about convinced me that you actually deserve the guy.

The hate and contempt are palpable.
Crikey! If that is what you call hate and contempt just wait until you hear about some of the things that get said about minority demographics in America.

Your hair will turn blue.

Quite a stir when Kamala shows her true colors. The media helps her out by calling the Christians "hecklers."
The hate and contempt are palpable.
To be clear....Christian's are not hecklers.
Blessings.

I wonder what the response would have been if there were black or Muslim people in the crowd "heckling" her.
Uh oh, not past the first page and the initial manufactured outrage needs to be replaced with talk about scary non-white people. The talking points in the original post must not be going as well as hoped.

Odd. Years of "heckling" at Trump rallies. Not a word from the left.
There have been numerous instances of hecklers at Trump rallies being removed for disrupting an event. Removal is a typical response to such disruption. When something appropriate occurs, there is no need for comment.

“This election is your chance to send a message,” the former president said, before turning around to the crowd apparently booing at a heckler. The boos turned to cheers when the heckler was seemingly escorted out of the California arena.

“Get him out of here,” Trump told police officers who removed the man from the rally hall as the large crowd of Trump supporters booed him.

“That guy’s got a serious weight problem,” Trump said, apparently singling out a protester being escorted from the venue by security. “Go home, start exercising.”

I don’t think they lied about what they yelled, but I am doubtful of their claim that Harris was definitely responding to them because they yelled statements of faith. And appearing on Fox is likely for attention.
That's entirely fair.

Kamala Harris is a Baptist, so she is a Christian by definition.
Some people think she is Hindu because her late mother was. It's just part of the confusion, is all. Yes, I'm aware she is Baptist.

If a Muslim yelled "Allah Akbar" I'm sure her reaction would have been the same, regardless.

Also, Muslims can be white.

I was commenting on how Evangelicals are pushing for Christian laws that are not secular.
Which law might that be? If you are hinting at Christian Nationalism then I also have to disagree with what they stand for I don't know much about them but we've had Christians all along in government so why do we need what I perceive as a militant group in government?

About this topic the data is insufficient we all know that Fox is rightwing but some talk as if their media is better and uses no manipulation.

"Christ is King" is also a truth that is good to understand.
Kamala weaponizes it against those who proclaim it by telling them they don't belong there.

You're asserting she's weaponizing religion without evidence, when it's the folks using Jesus name as a form of political protest doing that.
