Refugees can't vote either, though they do have an easier path to citizenship compared to illegal immigrants. We also don't get very many of them - about 60,000 last year. And while we admit a lot of asylum seekers, the number of people actually granted asylum every year is pretty low (~35,000 in 2022). Asylum seekers aren't eligible for citizenship unless their case is approved and asylum is granted.
At least that's how it's supposed to work.

They're not illegals, they're all refugee immigrants.

I'm not sure what you are talking about. Musk, in his Tweet, clearly stated, "for residents who immigrated illegally to the U.S. to become citizens and gain legal voter status." People who immigrate illegally are illegal aliens, not refugee immigrants. The Great Replacement conspiracy theory is all about how Democrats are allegedly allowing people to cross the border illegally in order to get more votes.

I'm not a politically active person who is ready to argue those things.
You'll notice that my comments here lean toward matters of biblical faith.

So the comment I made about temporary "bandaids" for a crumbling society would be
pretty much true of either presidential candidate.

If I am on the wrong discussion thread I'll quiet down here.
But first let me contribute one of my Scripture songs.

All flesh is as grass.

If you're not here to discuss and argue about American Politics, you're in the wrong sub-forum.

I'm talking about the bulk of people pouring in by the millions in being called refugees and asylum seekers. It's like the male rapist who says he's a woman being told "okay" and then transferred to a women's prison. It's the whatever you say you are policy.

The great replacement theory has nothing to do with voting

What do you think the motive is to allow so many violent criminals into our country? And why the secrecy and the false claims that the border was safe, secure, and closed? Why the initial denial to the media to have access to what was going on at the southern border?

It’s not just about votes. Greater populations in liberal areas can mean more house seats in the next census.

Yes, California, for example, has extra house seats because of illegals counted in the census. Democrats insist they continue to be counted.

Some evidence would help. Well, would help to prove that claim wrong...

California has gained one seat. But Texas did as well. As did Florida. From here: Third Way

'Pew’s analysis also found that undocumented immigrants affected six states in the 2020 census, with three states gaining a seat and three states losing one. The red states of Florida and Texas picked up a seat, along with blue state California. Red states Alabama and Ohio lost a seat, as well as blue state Minnesota. The net result when broken down along partisan lines—a wash. Democrats and Republicans would have maintained the exact same number of congressional seats; there would be no net difference in representation.'

And Democrats and Republicans would be wasting their time arguing about it. It's a constitutional requirement. Article 2, Section 1 if you want to check.

For a liberal with no real stake in the game that is a naive assessment of why this administration has allowed and encouraged millions of illegals in this nation.

Here's the analysis just before the 2020 census:

Split the difference if you want. I don't think even one Congressional district should be added for non-citizens, that means the law needs to change.. If Democrats swept the election perhaps another 50 million migrants would enter the country and many would be made citizens. With the Supreme Court packed, the Senate filibuster gone, and all of those migrants our country would be a one-party rule country for a long time. I don't want every city in the country to turn into a San Francisco or Chicago or New York. I also don't think a Chinese mother should come to the U.S. for two weeks to have a baby and then go back to China with her child now an American citizen.

It's a factual account of the situation. With evidence to back it up.

I'm not pointing out what I want. I'm pointing out that you made a mistake. I have no idea where you got the wrong information from - it would have helped if you'd supplied that. But at least everyone now knows the facts of the matter.

Not sure what you're talking about. This is in the link I provided:

  • Looking at non-citizens and their U.S.-born minor children redistributes 10 seats, with Ohio, Michigan, Alabama, Idaho, Minnesota, Missouri, West Virginia, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island each having one fewer seat. California will have four more seats than it otherwise would have; Texas will have three more seats; and New York, Florida, and New Jersey will have one additional seat each.
  • Looking at only non-citizens (legal residents and illegal immigrants) redistributes eight seats, with Ohio, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, Alabama, Idaho, West Virginia, and Rhode Island each having one fewer seat in 2020 due to the presence of non-citizens in other states. California will have three additional seats; Texas will have two more seats; and Florida, New Jersey, and New York will each have one more seat.
My point is that illegals counted in the census make a difference, both sources agree although they have different numbers. One vote has made a difference, and without any checks on the radical Democrats who lead the party the numbers will be staggering. ONLY U.S. CITIZENS should count in regard to United State elections, that's what conservatives have been pushing for, that's why we want to make sure everyone who votes in a federal election is an American citizen. No one party should be able to ship in millions of non-citizens for a census or to make millions of them citizens so they can vote in future elections.

After you had been corrected. And that link isn't talking about the last census, which anyone would reasonably expect the post to be about. But census details over the last few decades.

So let's go back 5 decades. And we see that 2/3 of the presidents, whether you count the individuals or the total time in office, have been Republicans. So if you've got a complaint and you want to change the constitution, then take it up with the GOP.
