  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thanks for sharing this. It's a good article...
Seems that " King George" is doing very well on government money. The rest of Springfield, not so much.

Another report;

"When Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) flew 49 Venezuelan migrants into the 23,000-person town of Martha's Vineyard, Biden branded the move "a political stunt and inhumane." With 58,000 residents, Springfield is only 2 1/2 times the size, yet with estimates of up to 20,000 Haitians now residing in the town, Springfield has received more than 1,000 times as many Haitians as Martha's Vineyard received Venezuelans. While all but five of the 49 migrants spent fewer than 48 hours in Martha's Vineyard, the Haitians in Springfield are largely here to stay"

Interesting article.

A lot of "sources say" in there
I don't blame the "sources" for not identifying themselves. The people with all the guns, all the money, and 99 percent of the press - the federal government, is behind all of this.

Assuming that's 100% correct, that still doesn't paint the migrants as bad guys the way Trump/Vance/et al are. The problem is a for-profit headhunting firm and the lack of accommodations for workers they're bringing in.

Vance is the senator for Springfield. Instead of moaning about migrants that are revitalizing one of his constituencies, why isn't he yelling for more resources to be brought to bear in this town?

They are only going to VOTE for the people who blame the coloured migrants instead of Americans.

And I agree VERY much about Vance. He has an opportunity to strengthen his and assist in this situation, but he's just lobbing grenades of division.

The point of the thread isn't to portray them as bad guys, but they are pawns of the government, and the NGO's they funnel money through.

The resources ARE there but the NGO's get the 1st cut, according to the 2 articles, and the proprietors are doing very well.

That's not the point of your thread, but it is the point of Trump, Vance, et al.

The resources are there for some things, but obviously not all. Something like housing assistance for an individual assumes that the housing exists in the first place, which isn't always a valid assumption.

Logansport Indiana, another one of many other cities overwhelmed by the Harris migrant policies.
That’s unfortunate.

That’s unfortunate.
If Harris gets the most votes counted, will her administration continue to subsidize migrant salaries, and rents, in an effort to force out the locals?

Utter nonsense. Springfield was a dying city. Haitian immigrants, here legally, resuscitated the area. The locals now have more businesses to work for and shop at, not fewer.

Donald has declared he would round up all these hardworking people and force them out of the country en masse - despite their being here legally. Are you on board with that?

This shows rhe problems of massive immigration allowance. It puts a burden upon communities to deal with it. Often, communities that are NOT prepared. When you send thousands of people into communities and do not provide them the real support that is needed you end up with things like this.

This is just another example of why we need to put a stop to it. We are no longer the country that can just take anyone and everyone. Every community that is taking these folks is over burdened don't have the infrastructure for it.

Until we can figure out how to do it so this doesn't happen it's nothing more than tragic for everyone involved.
