CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The list of names of former State Department members, National security officials, and Department of Defense officials in your link who would not support Trump in 2016 came to around 60. Today 741 people from those same departments, and others connected to them, did the same. That's unprecedented.

That's because Trump is unprecedented. We've never had a politician so willing to challenge the status quo. Every election we hear the mantra of "change", but when we get someone who could actually effect change, he's called dangerous.

Trump had in his possession some of the most closely held secrets our government has. These secrets pertain to the military capabilities of our allies, our human assets in other parts of the world, and our nuclear program. They were kept in an unsecured location, and some classified information was shared with people who were not authorized to see or hear it. Do you not see that as being dangerous and a threat to our national security?
Trump also tried to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. Do you not see that as dangerous and a threat to our democracy?

Wait...what? Are you saying it's only wrong if a foreign state actually got hold of some of the more sensitive papers (and we have no idea if they did or not). That's like saying that DUI is only wrong if you kill someone.

I know, that is my point which I have repeatedly made that it is elitists who many of us working class American conservatives distrust. Maybe they are friends to your political interests, they are not our friends.

No, no sarcasm. I have this wildly radical belief that a person should be punished for something injurious that they actually have done, rather than for something they might have possibly done, but didn't. But that's a topic for another thread.
