If it was 'I used to be a Republican but I have now moved more towards the left of centre so I'll probably now vote Democrat' then no-one would blink an eye. But we both know that that's not the case. All these people are Republicans and will remain Republicans, supporting Republican policies and arguing against Democratic ones. These are senior Republican figures who feel that the threat to democracy that Trump presents will cause them to vote for Harris.
Most of those who will be voting him seem to not want to confront this unprecedented situation and have wave it away as if it's some disgruntled politicians. They are not. And they are warning you.
Parroting the approved DNC phrase, I see. It's like that jingle that is repeated thousands of times, so many times that people remember. It has certainly been effective on the susceptible.
It's false, but that matters not; all that matters is maintaining the status quo.
This administration actually strong-armed social media to silence Americans, to do what it is prohibited to do under the first Amendment, but hey, who cares about the pivotal right of Americans?
" CNN: Mark Zuckerberg, chairman and CEO of the social media company Meta, said
in a letter to the House Judiciary committee on Monday that his teams were “pressured” by the Biden White House to censor some content around the Covid-19 pandemic.
“
In 2021, senior officials from the Biden Administration, including the White House, repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain COVID-19 content, including humor and satire, and expressed a lot of frustration with our teams when we didn’t agree,” Zuckerberg said."
n his letter to the judiciary committee,
Zuckerberg said the pressure he felt in 2021 was “wrong” and he came to “regret” that his company, the parent of Facebook and Instagram, was not more outspoken. Zuckerberg added that with the “benefit of hindsight and new information” there were decisions made in 2021 that wouldn’t be made today.
“Like I said to our teams at the time, I feel strongly that we should not compromise our content standards due to pressure from any Administration in either direction – and we’re ready to push back if something like this happens again,” Zuckerberg wrote.
President Biden said in July of 2021 that social media platforms are “killing people” with misinformation surrounding the pandemic."
And FB (and other social media) was not forced to censor just pandemic posts, including those from doctors and scientists - and people just discussing their own scenarios- but also pressured to suppress the Hunter Biden laptop story and anyone talking in an unapproved manner about the election.
If one doesn't understand the pivotal nature of the First Amendment rights in this country, that sort of violation must be acceptable. But it is not to anyone who does understand the implications.
