  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The International Judo Federation regulates women's boxing? News to me.
I think they were referring to transgendered boxers….

How would they react if someone was flamboyant or wearing pride gear?

Hypocrisy to the core.
I agree, and that is one of the reasons why I made the thread about why the Olympics opening ceremony was demonic. The IOC are a bunch of hypocrites.

Yet they have the audacity to call Christians hypocrites.

Deplorable!

Which has nothing to do with the International Judo Federation, the body that sanctioned Nemanja Majdov. Not to mention the only trasngender boxer at the Olympics was a trasnman who competed in the Women's division.

Yeah, there is sadly nothing we can do, except not pay to watch the Olympics. :) If you want to watch the Olympics for free in the USA without a TV provider, you can use a VPN and connect to Canada.

By trans man you mean a woman pretending to be a man? If so, I think that’s fair. I’m going off topic now.

Good idea. Anyways, as we know that the world is demonic, and that the Olympics was run by a bunch of wokes, one can not milk a cow dry, so I am leaving this thread.

To be fair, in many Orthodox countries, their faith and public life were completely intertwined. There was no separation.

It’s a huge part of their identity.

I can respect the practice but still doesn't make sense to me why not be discreet as Jesus taught us in the Bible.

Why do things in contradiction to what Jesus is teaching.

I don't mean that as criticism. I have mental problems and many things many people do in many other religions or non-religious don't make sense to me. Because of the unusual manner I process information, it troubles me deeply if things don't make sense.

It’s a sign of piety, if anything.

I hope I didn’t sound rude or disrespectful.

God bless you

This decision, released on Aug. 31, was further complicated by Majdov removing his judogi (uniform) in the field of play.

Majdov publicly responded to the suspension in a Sept. 15 Instagram post, expressing disappointment with the decision but reaffirming commitment to his faith and his sport.

"The Lord has given me everything, both for me personally and for my career, and he is number one for me and I am proud of that. And that will not change under any circumstances. Glory to Him and thanks for everything," he wrote, according to Google Translate.

CV NEWS FEED // The International Judo Federation (IJF) recently notified one of its athletes that he has been suspended from competing for the next five months due to the fact that he visibly made the Sign of the Cross on multiple occasions at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Serbian judo world champion Nemanja Majdov, an Orthodox Christian, was told by the sport’s governing body that “he has been banned from competing until early next year,” the Daily Mail reported Thursday.

The IJF decided to suspend Majdov partly because he had “shown a clear religious sign when entering the field of play” while competing at the Olympics on July 31, the Mailnoted.

The IJF deemed the athlete’s gesture of devotion a “violation of competition protocol regarding the display of religious beliefs,” theOrthodox Times reported this week:

Yet the committee allowed outright anti Christian beliefs in the opening ceremony. Hyocrites.

Its funny we have watched how committees, corporations and the private sector become more political and stick their nose into matters of belief. In doing so they are actually taking a belief position themselves. There is no neutral stand when they side with a particular ideological belief on issues.

The very State and authorities that claim we should be neutral are themselves bias in their beliefs and pushing them onto everyone.

We can argue about whether there were anti-Christian beliefs in the opening ceremony, but that doesn't really matter. This decision was not made by the Paris Organising Committee for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the body who designed and ran the Games, including the Opening Ceremony. So you can't really call the IJF hypocritical when they had nothing to do with the Opening Ceremony.

"No public display of religions" seems to be a pretty neutral stand since it applies to all religions. And before you go there, that includes the wearing of hijabs for women judokas.
The very State and authorities that claim we should be neutral are themselves bias in their beliefs and pushing them onto everyone.
Except it's not being pushed on to everyone. In this case, the sporting federation has behavioral rules, and this candidate violated multiple of them over a period of years. He knew what they were when he signed up, and chose not to obey them.

Ok sorry I thought this was in the Olympics.

I wasn't thinking of that. What is religion though. Is it a belief in an ideology. Can political ideologies become a religion or religious like. Such as say Marxism or Communism where people bow to a chairman or emporer or a State aparatus. It seems to me if an ideological belief is being favoured and pushed by a power that is not based in objective fact then its like a religion. It doesn't matter as it still has the hallmarks of religion.

So when say the Olympic committee or the UN or a government or corporation like in the opening ceremony push and anti Christian theme while promoting a progressive and Woke ideology thats not being neutral. Just mocking Christianity is not being neutral. If your going to mock, mock them all or none at all. Thats being neutral.

Why can't an athelete do a quick sign of the cross before they compete. Thats their inspiration and expression of belief which they have a right to do in a public place.

Is looking to the sky now disallowed. Many atheletes look to the sky and say a quick pray. Sometimes you see their lips moving a bit like they are saying something. Is the moving of lips now outlawed. Where is the line in all this.
Except it's not being pushed on to everyone. In this case, the sporting federation has behavioral rules, and this candidate violated multiple of them over a period of years. He knew what they were when he signed up, and chose not to obey them.
I guess if there are rules people have to abide by them even if they are stupid rules. We see this creeping into sports. Players being stood down for their faith and being made to feel unwelcome for their beliefs.

Yet at the same time being forced to take on an ideology like having to wear pride jerseys when its against their faith. I reckon most who are coming down on Christians will be quick to support Woke ideology without question. Thats not being neutral.
