  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well we were called deporables. Racists, homophones, transphobes, white supremacists, dangerous to democracy among other things. All things that are equally as bad if not worse than what sheriff had to say.

As noted above you don't seem to be consistent in your criticisms.
"Were?" "Still" would be more appropriate

And this appears to always be the answer for the right: lie about immigrants, demonize them, and treat them as if they're subhuman. Of the two options, I'd prefer the one with an open checkbook, because yes, it is morally superior.
All of that is is just evidence of rhe lefts feeling of self righteousness. LOL, demonization? Maybe you ought to take a hard look in rhe mirror and do some self reflection about what you just said about the right.
Was 2016 really that bad? Without Trump's tax cuts, we'd have an extra trillion-or-so dollars in the treasury by now. How much good could we have done with an extra trillion dollars? Instead, it's mostly sitting in the pockets of people who already had a lot of money.
We don't need extra money. We need to stop spending like drunken sailors. And yes that goes for both sides of the aisle.
Dems are creating global poverty that motivates people to want to move here?
You know that's not what I said. Why would make something like that up?
Why is that the better answer?
Well let me see, if people are coming into your house and taking your stuff, breaking things etc. Is it easier to build a new addition or just close and lock your door?
Well, nonetheless I think I get what you mean. I think you're saying that you can say you're not a homophobe but that won't matter, some people will still count you as one. But like I said, if you're offended at being called a homophobe then you agree that homophobia is a bad thing (deplorable) just like Hillary. The point being that most disputes are over misunderstandings.

That... That was nowhere likening people to ducks. The whole saying ends "it's a duck." As in, if something behaves and sounds like exactly something, it's that something. The connotations themselves are entire different too in between calling people locusts and saying "hey, you sound pretty xenophobic there... You're probably xenophobic in that case."
Yes and if you swarm into a community eat up resources causing serious problems. Maybe one should say, if it swarms in like a locust and eats up resources like a locust...

A local CEO noted he had trouble finding reliable workers who would come to work every day.

WILLIAM BRANGHAM: Jamie McGregor is the CEO of McGregor Metal, which makes welded parts for the auto and farm industries.
Right now, about 10 percent of his work force is Haitian, over 30 employees.

JAMIE MCGREGOR: I wish I had 30 more.
Our Haitian associates come to work every day.
They don't have a drug problem.
They will stay at their machine.
They will achieve their numbers.
They are here to work.
And so, in general, that's a stark difference from what were used to in our community.

Now you are on CEOs side? I thought you guys hated CEOs.

Did you listed to what he said? What he said are things bosses want out of their workers everyday but the left is totally against all that. This guy sounds like a slave driver type of boss that the left constantly demonizes. And now you really like it?

Just wait until the Haitians figure out what American worker culture is like and decide that the CEO is a slave driver who cares nothing for the worker. When they become like American leftist workers then they will have succeeded in becoming one of us.

Isn't this the lefts whole complaint? How dare he take advantage of immigramt workers.

Let me reiterate. There is a clear, documented tradition of xenophobes and racists using language that conjures up images of infection, invasion, swarms of insects, etc. to refer to classes of people they simply do not like.

Obviously, those who use such language are going to say that they are not motivated by such dark sentiments. But if that is really the case, why use such terminology when there are a myriad of other ways to present your case without having to evoke images of vermin, swarms of insect, being overrun, etc.

Methinks they protest too much.

Olof Palme the social democrat state minister who was assasinated, once in a speech referred to the Polish people as creatures.

It caused outrage among many, for Olof it was nothing wrong with saying so, far from meaning the poles are cattle it was meant in all good

meaning.

But some are very dramatic, even claiming he was motivated by "dark sentiments".

Are you not aware that we use animal comparisons all the time? It's actually a literary term.

Strong as a bull
Fast as a bunny rabbit
Doesnt have the sense God gave a goat

But those aren't facts, now are they.

Saying that a person is "strong as a bull" isn't a statement of fact.

We all understand what a fact is here, don't we?

Side?
You guys?
We are individuals on this forum.

See above.
Slave driver?

I think the Haitians, and other recent immigrants, are grateful for the opportunity to work and earn money for their families.

The CEO's points raises questions about the American work ethic, especially amoung the younger generations.

And works at previously open jobs like a locust? Yeah, doesn't quite work. You are still saying that they have brought nothing to the community and merely consume and devour, which isn't true. It's dehumanising, no matter how you try to spin it.

Where did Jeaus defend referring to conservatives as baskets of deplorables?

Apparently not. Becauae rhats what locusts do. They swarm into an area and take away resources the prople who live there need.

Maybe he shouldn't have said it that way, but it is an apt description of what is happening there. Perhaps he should have just stuck.with they are swarming rhe area and taking away our resources. That probably would have been better.
I'd rather get rid of name calling from both sides all together.

They are both guilty of it.

(NO! I'm not accusing anyone HERE of doing it, just from my own observations).

One would think that this is the bare minimum one needs to do to be passable at their job. Doesn't speak to highly about the local workforce if that's what gets you praise around those parts.

I dont care if the Bible says its ok to call this group or that group of people insects or vermin or whatever.

It is NOT ok.

Hello.

This is my faith. This is everything about who I am as a human being, and all that I love and live for.

I am not alive to speak the words you desire to hear, and you have zero authority over me when it comes to my faith you never will. No government and no man has that authority.

So if the Bible tells me something is okay, then it's okay. You have no authority over my tongue. Your not my husband.

Constitution 101.

I'm not the man who made that comment and I don't know that I would have said it, clearly he seemed emotional at that posting and emotionally I have said regrettable things, but I will defend the language use because I don't believe the comparison inappropriate or in itself out of line. I have no ground to judge him guilty of wrongdoing.

We clearly have different compasses. Mine is spelled out clearly in Scripture and in there is found my everything.

"For the Word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Hebrews 4:12

Hello.

This is my faith.
Oh brother. It’s not your faith. It’s you trying to use your faith in order to excuse being cruel to others.

I think the promotion of slavery and the destruction of America is far more egregious than using an apt descriptor that someone didn't like

Are you just making things up now? Working for low, but legal wages isn’t “slavery.”

You know the Haitians are here legally, right? They’re not being trafficked. They’re here as temporary refugees.
