  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Will Harris accept the challenge to debate Trump?

Personally, I think he should have accepted the offer, and said it will be on Fox this time, and will be under the conditions of his choosing after Harris and Biden both got what they wanted. It's only fair to see how Harris can perform in an environment where she's facing moderators who aren't liberals, and an audience that may be mostly rooting for the other guy. Could she handle it (without Tim Walz next to her)?
I agree.

Yeah and that was pretty lame of her. I hope Trump is at least a little braver and willing to take her up on her challenge to a second debate.

No he’s not but I would think he might want to have another shot to clean up the mess he made of the first and only debate he’s had with a worthy opponent.
Maybe he wants to see how much she'll beg and demand and then see if she'll accept his terms.

Trump can't win either way. If he accepts doing a debate after saying he won't, she'll then say that she was able to make him do it--making it look like she can control him. If he doesn't accept, then she'll go on and on about Trump being afraid to debate her. Still, if I were him, I'd accept doing a debate but only on his terms this time. That it would be up to her to accept his conditions, and she would look like the weak one that was simply bluffing about doing a debate again if she declined the offer.

He already refused to debate her on Sept 10th unless she debated him on Sept 4th. Not that I'm disagreeing that he shouldn't have flat out refused this time around. But I think there are certain particulars involved.

Trump caved and accepted Democratic rules and sites. The arguing is over.

Of course, the rules are not equally fair to both sides. Why would a sitting president or VP offer that? They don't need the debates as much as a challenger.

The scenario is painting her into a corner. She keeps demanding and challenging. He finally accepts but on his terms. She then does a turnabout and refuses.
