  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why do teenagers and young adults hate Christianity ?

I probably went to church more on a Sunday than most other people do here. An early morning service most times, then Matins, Sunday school and then Evensong.

I grew up an English speaker in the Roman church, and I can only identify half of these things (early morning service - Sunday Mass; Sunday school - the English protestant term for religious education). As for the others, I can only guess that the last is some sort of musical performance in the evening. So much for the CoE being an English version of the RCC. (I went once to a wedding in an Anglican church. It was both familiar and oddly different in disconcerting ways.)

It wasn't the church that I rejected. It was religion.

That was the catalyst for my separation. Watching them manipulate the bible was the breaking point. Either it says what it does or not.

I looked at several paths and teachings seeking the truth until reaching the point where I didn't believe in Christ and questioned God's existence. Going to the synagogue was the last resort. Answer the question or I'm done. I was prepared to walk away.

I didn't want to be told what to think, feel, or believe. I needed to reach that point on my own and be permitted to question and draw my own conclusions based on my experiences. I didn't want a roadmap and any form of evangelization would have probably made me leave.

I met with the director but beyond our discussion no one questioned me at all. I never explained my disbelief or estrangement. They met with the person and dealt with me on that level. I wasn't a project. During a weekly torah discussion I compared the lesson to a principle in Buddhism and my classmates nodded in agreement.

It was okay to have a different opinion, think outside the box or disagree. They didn't try to sway us. Everything we learned ended with dialogue where we shared our thoughts and what we got from the experience. There were no right or wrong answers. We're all at different points.

Thank you for sharing your story. I heard you and it was lovely. One kindred to another.

All who have been appointed to life will believe.

Matthew 13: 45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, 46 who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it"

Those who have found the pearl of great price will endure, no matter what bad experiences they may encounter in Christian circles. It's all or nothing. There is nothing else worth having. God Bless All :)

I just watched a video and noted another of a new TikTok rage. Young people are writing totally bogus checks to themselves in large amounts and depositing the checks into their own checking accounts through an ATM. The bank automatically credits them with some portion of that check, which they then withdraw and think of as "free money."

Of course, eventually the bank is going to debit that amount (and charge them a fee for the bounced check) and following that, chase them for their money.

The problem is that the kids haven't grasped the basic principle of TAANSTAFL ("There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch"). If you get anything "free," either you're somehow stealing from someone or someone is somehow stealing from you. Because they haven't grasped that basic principle of life, someone who tried this put it on TikTok and a million other kids have tried it before the report of what eventually happened to the first kid becomes public.
IMO, we are living in the days of Isaiah 5:20-23

In my younger days I did a lot of things that I should have been arrested, beat up for, or even killed doing. In hindsight, I shudder thinking about them. It was in the age range of 15-20 years old. Today, you see what should be mature adults, acting more stupidly than anything I ever did, and recording it.

Sin is not a word that is used in most churches these days, in fear of stepping on toes that may not return.

Anglican. I think my paternal grandparents were Welsh Methodists, so why we ended up C of E I don't know.
That’s not surprising since you were raised in the UK.

I have no idea why that happened. If I link to it again it still comes up. But if I paste it into Notes it shows correctly. Maybe it's a sign!

I did not realize "Facebook" was a Burmese word. :)
Me neither, until now. Wonder what other Western companies have Burmese translations for their brand names. McDonald's is not in Myanmar.

As should we all.
A Christian IS a new creature. If Christ's Spirit doesn't dwell in him, he doesn't belong to Christ. If Christ's Spirit dwells in him, he seeks forgiveness and repents.

Wow, going to church
No believer has ever “gone to church” in the history of Christendom. The “church” is the body of Christ made up of called our believers who gather in Christ. Christ is the head of the body, the church.

The church met in thier houses, as we read in scripture. The church is a living body of believers not an organization of man or a corporation.

The functioning of the church is to gather in Christ abd freely minister abd edify one another as they are led, no man made control over all eith a one man exalted above all called “the pastor” on a thing called a altar or stage.

There is to be body ministry where all can edify not a one man pastor gift over all, (1 Corinthians 24:26-38, 1 Peter 4:10,11,).

This kind of wonderful gatherings where they also had a full meal and fellowship is wonderful.
a lot in a week is too much for me.
Yes, the religious forms of men can be weary to many. But the true gatherings in the spirit are wonderful .
I mainly take the New Testament seriously, while the Old Testament does not apply as much in 2024,
All of it applies in soo many ways we can barely understand.
though all scripture does apply whether directly or indirectly.
Yes
Over 40% of the Bible is narrative, according to The Bible Project. There are a lot of different writing styles in the Bible, so it can get confusing.
No man knows the things of God but by the Spirit

1 Corinthians 2: 11, 12,14 “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. …14. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
To be honest, that is one of the reasons why I have installed artificial intelligence onto my computer: To help me understand the Bible more. Of course, I'll tell you when I use AI.
No, this is not right. No man knows the things of God but by the Spirit, (1 Cor. 2:11,12,14 KJV).

And

1 John 2: 20. But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. 27. But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.”

And

2 Corinthians 13: 5. Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?”

Hebrews 13: 20. Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21. Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

Find a gathering of believers who wait on the Lord, preferably who gather in homes and have body ministry and plurality if elders not a one man over all and who have a meal together. And who hold to the doctrine of Christ.

Is Christianity out of touch or are these people simply evil and expressing there Hatred Of Christ ?
For many people Christianity doesn't offer anything. Being told you're evil doesn't help either.

Well, if Christians go around just telling other people, "You're evil!" then that doesn't help and it certainly isn't the gospel. We need to make clear that by nature, we are all evil, we have all broken God's commandments, both by doing things He commands us not to do, and by not doing things He commands us to do. Because of that, we all deserve only God's punishment. The good news is that there is a Saviour, Jesus Christ. When we believe in Him, He saves us from the punishment due for our sins. If we don't make any mention of evil, people won't know what it is Jesus saves from. A balance is needed.

Well they may think they have life all figured out and do not need God. So they see christianity as a distraction to the pleasures offered by a worldly life.
Not so much as a distraction as irrelevant. From the perspective of someone who doesn't already believe what is the attraction?

They probably have unloving parents or parents who don't like religion.
I had loving parents who were both Christian (one much more so than the other). So probably not unloving parents who don't like religion.

You can believe a wide variety of things in the Anglican tradition. Sounds like you didn't like that particular Anglican church, decided Christianity as a whole was not for you based on that one church, and they threw out the baby with the bathwater. Very common.
I don't have much mercy for him. He's been given lots and lots of evidence.

I think the tone of this post from a Christian is big part of the answer to the OP. Mind reading, assumption, lack of mercy and condescension.
