  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What bible do you trust most, and which one do you trust least?

@The Liturgist What's your opinion on the Peshitta which is used by Oriental Orthodox and even some Maronite Catholics?

I would love to own one, but I don't know where to order it.

Blessings

A different user here but Gorgias Press, with the blessing of the Syriac Patriarch of Antioch, has released the Antioch Bible New Testament translated from the Peshitta. They are also currently in the process of translating the Peshitta Old Testament.

How many books of the Old Testament does it have? I know the syriac church has the most books in its canon.

ESV is the one I trust most. I don't know which one I trust least. I just stick with the couple translations I find trustworthy.

It’s the Ethiopians who have the biggest canon. I believe Syriacs have roughly the same canon as Eastern Orthodoxy with a few extra Psalms.

I have heard of that. If I am not mistaken, the Ethiopians have 80 Bible books or something along those lines.
