  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

....The flat tax is the most fair system.....
No. Flat rate tax has person A paying a thousand, and person B paying a million. Thats not fair. In fact its straight up Marxist - "from each according to his ability".

Whats fair is a flat figure tax. Everybody pays the same amount. Say $30k, or whatever is needed. No one pays more than others.

The proper term we should be using is meritocratic; competency and merit is how people should be judged fit for a position. That isn't elitism. It isn't elitism that someone has earned a position through their own skill and competency, it would--however--be elitism for someone to think they deserve a position because they are just superior because of their, oh let's say, wealth or ego.

-CryptoLutheran
That describes Trump pretty well. Gifted his wealth and priviledge, complains endlessly because he thinks the rules don't apply to him, that he is immune and also complains if any of his other wealthy elitist friends get investigated or charged with crimes, he thinks the rules don't apply to him, because of his wealthy privileged position.

I don't believe that he considers himself to be an elitist. I know that myself and his MAGA supporters don't consider Trump to be an elitist.
Do you understand why others might consider D Trump to be an elitist? Given his almost obscene levels of wealth and his over the top expectations of priviledge, and his use of lawyers and other mega wealthy contacts to stack the game in his favour and to tread on people that get in his way.

I understand why others disagree. But have you noticed that his political opponents are ALL from the entrenched ruling class and elitists who have been in power for many decades? Have y'all noticed that the elitists establishment ruling class, along with mainstream media, will do or say anything to get average Americans to hate Donald Trump?

Thatcher tried this principle in the 1970s. It was run as a pilot in Scotland, was immediately described as a poll tax and ended in disaster for the government. The Conservatives have never been in power there since.

For someone whose income is less than the tax set for everybody it is impossible. Many families would be pauperised while the wealthy would be enriched.

No, I haven't noticed that. Plenty of younger Dem politicians are against him, too.

I don't think a lot of "average Americans" need much convincing.

Yes, a lot of USA political leaders are very wealthy people. Trump is more wealthy than most of them.
There are some people that are not wealthy, I understand that AOC is not wealthy at all.

Have y'all noticed that the elitists establishment ruling class, along with mainstream media, will do or say anything to get average Americans to hate Donald Trump?
Well, the left guys talk bad about the right guys and the right guys talk bad about the left guys, that seems to be the USA way of doing politics. Smear, smear, smear rather than focus on policy.

The media, mostly just report the news. Certainly potentially criminal investigations, Impeachments, Inditements, guilty verdicts, liable verdicts etc are very news worthy.

It is not Trump they hate and want to disenfranchise... it is conservatives.... many of us reading this.
I do suspect if the radical left wins this election... they will remain in power for a long time unless people rise up or sit down.

If the Democrat party win the next USA presidential election, then they will control the whitehouse for the next 4 years, then there will be another presidential election, same as always. If the Republican party have policies that appeal to people then they might win that election, same as always.

In USA you also have your mid terms, where usually you guys vote the other party and then things pretty much shut down for the next 2 years.

Apparently every tax system Marxist then. Nice. Let do away with taxes all together!

How do you figure? Since 1990, the top bracket tax rate has increased only under Democratic presidents and decreased only under Republicans.
And yet no matter what they are still accused of not paying their fair share. And the Democratic Party has become the party of the rich. They are getting something out it. I wonder what it is.

How does this logic work?
Why are you labelling the Democrat party the party of the rich, when the Democrat party want to raise taxes for the rich, and provide public healthcare and schooling for everyone including the poor.
Where the Republican party want to lower tax for the rich and gut healthcare for the poor and remove public schools?

Logic? I think you have come to the wrong discussion.

Given that a Republican presidential candidate has won the popular vote only once since 1988, it would seem that the “average American” matches your description fairly well.

And yet no matter what they are still accused of not paying their fair share.

They can only do what Congress will let them.

And the Democratic Party has become the party of the rich. They are getting something out it. I wonder what it is.

Easy, it's the rich who are supporting and voting for them. I wonder what they are getting out of it? What do they know that we don't?

Well, of course there are some people that are all about brand, life long Republicans, life long Democrats. But there are also people that are about policy, and some people that are aware of where the country is at and what they think needs to happen next.
For example, some people may feel the balance has moved too much towards the wealthy employers and business owners and so they vote Democrat to bring in more Environmental protection, more unions, more employee protections, and then at some point people might think the balance has moved too far towards poor people and so they vote for Republicans to support businesses but restricting environmental protections and employee protections.

If the USA election system shifted to a popular vote rather than an electoral system, then both parties would shift their approaches to win the majority of the votes rather than to win specific electorates.

Aha, so its not about using logic on what information is available.
It's about using inuendo and appealing to boogymen?

Who has Elon Musk endorsed? Is he considered rich?

Another election where the high court will have been packed.
Huh? Who has packed the high court?
Where alternate social media will have been shut down.
I haven't heard of social media platforms being shutdown.
Where the EU would have been looked at as a model to restrict the right to protest.
Huh? Where have peaceful protests been shutdown?
Most likely where a CBDC will have come into play and have the ability to shut off all of your money if you vote wrong.
Huh?
Yeah I'll just say it now. If democrat's have their way the next election would matter the about the same amount it matters in Russia or North Korea.
This is a very weird post.

So you never heard of democrats taking about adding seats to the high court.
Talking about, or doing?

Or about Telegram or X being slammed for not removing "hate speech".
They weren't shut down where they?

Or about the guy that asked who Allah was going to jail.
Huh?
Or about the people that went to jail for "defacing" an LGBT flag painted onto a road every drove on by driving on it.
No, haven't heard about it. Was this a case of vandalism of public property?
