  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ah, I see. Very mature. Not.
Subtle, too. Not.

Except one of her favorite philosophers, Mao. He was a great supporter of love and freedom. She even quoted him along with Mother Theresa. Good grief.
Yikes!

Are we to assume that Mao never had a decent thought?
“Pure evil” isn’t a political philosophy, but thinking that someone who “did things” that changed the world significantly, had no ideas worth repeating in some fashion, seems a bit naïve?

I bet Hitler had a decent thought ot too as well. If Trump quoted his decent thought om sure you would come to his defense in the same manner correct?

Maybe we could find something from Ted Bundy or the Unibomber. If Trump.quoted them I'm sure you would support him saying those words and defending the it.

Trump's pretty keen on Hannibal Lecter.

Anyway, can we see this Mao quote from Kamala Harris?

Why? We've already been advised that mass murders can can good things to say that we should listen to.

Or dont you think she actually quoted him?

It is curious though...

This concatenation of "favorite philosophers", "Mao" and "Mother Theresa [sic]" caught my eye...

When did she quote Mao? And what indication do you have that he is one of her favorite philosophers?

I know right. She even said they weren't often quoted together. She acknowledged it was a strange combo.

Interesting she quoted Mother Teresa since a lot of liberals absolutely hate her.

But that’s another can of worms.

Even more interesting!

That sounds so much like this:

A lot of you have great deal of ability. A lot of you work hard. Put them together and that answers the why not question. There is usually not a good reason. And then the 3rd lesson and tip actually come from two of my favorite political philosophers. Mao Tse-tung and Mother Teresa, not often couple with each other, but the two people that I turn to most to basically deliver a simple point which is you’re going to make choices, you’re going to challenge, you’re going to say why not.

Four points of agreement, and yet... it's not Kamala Harris.

Anyway, any chance of a reference to this Kamala Harris quote that matches your description?

Okay I have to offer a serious mea.culpa here. I have been trying to find the quote regarding Mao. It took me a long time, but I found it. It was not Kamala Harris that said it. It was Anita Dunn. I repeat. It was NOT Harris who said it. I was wrong about it.

Thank you for clarifying. I was searching hard for it and couldn't find it.
