  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

ahhhh so why did the right and trump do it to biden for years?

And don't say signs of dementia, who can't remember where he is, who keeps mentioning fictional chars, who is the one that is such a snowflake he can't handle being attacked like he has for 8 years others.
I don't have to mention those things since you so generously already did so. Thanks! It indicates you're aware of Biden's problems. It took awhile, but his own party's elite eventually realized them as well. It took losing a debate to make them admit it, but that's ok.

yeah, it's funny how suddenly it's undemocratic, or rude, or such to use the same tactics trump used for 8 years against him. What a snowflake.
We're all unique.

When you actually listen to JD Vance tackle interviews. The guy is really good. I've heard a couple of them now and man, he is better than Trump!
My favorite was when asked how he'd prep for debate with Walz, he said he had a friend who lied a and he'd practice with him.

The obvious response...

“Nice of Trump to help Vance with debate prep,” author and Jeopardy! Champion Hemant Mehta wrote online.

Walked right into that one. But it wasn't as weird as...

At a photo-op in Valdosta, Georgia, on Thursday, where Vance stopped to buy donuts for his team, the candidate struggled to make small talk with a pair of employees who seemed little interested in what he had to say.

“I’m JD Vance, I’m running for vice president,” he told one worker.

“Okay,” she responded in a cringe-inducing video of the encounter.

She was a little more excited than most Americans over his selection.

Or this bit of oddity...

Last week, audio from a 2020 podcast captured Vance seeming to agree that raising grandchildren was “the whole purpose of the postmenopausal female” and that having grandparents help raise children was a “weird, unadvertised feature of marrying an Indian woman.”

yeah, when will the rights party elites relize trump has dementia at best, at worse he's a habitual liar that doesn't care about the truth.

If his doctor diagnosed him as having dementia, you might have a valid point. But since that hasn't happened.....

neither was anyone for biden, but didn't stop you and the right from attacking him so....your point?

Biden gets a little confused, trump was the one that thinks civil war had airports, that is unhealthily fixated on crowd sizes and many other things. I alawys laughed when the right attacked Biden, because trump was much worse. And yeah it aws online, but alot of psychiatrists have weighted in on trump and feel he might have dementia or other issues. Wether you think he has full dementia or such do you think the things he routinly says are an indication of a stable person? Who goes to every rally talking about how much they love a serial killer.

If Trump was worse, the voters would have voted someone else to be their candidate. As it is, he was beating biden in the polls (as he did in the debate), and now he's beating kamala in the polls, and is getting endorsements from democrats who have had enough of their own party--including the former Co-chair of the democratic party.

what polls is he winning, everyone shows him losing or at least losing ground.

And the maga is hardly the paragon on who should or shouldn't be president. And again that fits for biden, so why all the smears and attacks on Biden, but ignore trump beign far worse and showing much worse things.

If that fits for Biden, why did biden's campaign donors all abandon him, and his handlers all pressure him to drop out, and why did his poll numbers suddenly tank after the debate?
Are you going to attribute all that to Trump's supporters "smearing" biden? Are they really that effective?

Actually one of his 'doctors' did, back in 2016 when his note from his doctor said he tested posotive for everything. Wich would include dementia, though also make him a woman as he would be pregnant.

Technically, Trump thought the revolutionary war had airports. But that's understandable. From 8 years ago...

NEW YORK — As he has prepared to be named the Republican nominee for president, Donald Trump has not read any biographies of presidents. He said he would like to someday.
He has no time to read, he said: “I never have. I’m always busy doing a lot. Now I’m more busy, I guess, than ever before.”

Trump’s desk is piled high with magazines, nearly all of them with himself on their covers, and each morning, he reviews a pile of printouts of news articles about himself that his secretary delivers to his desk. But there are no shelves of books in his office, no computer on his desk.
Presidents have different ways of preparing to make decisions. Some read deeply, some prefer to review short memos that condense difficult issues into bite-size summaries, ideally with check-boxes at the bottom of the page. But Trump, poised to become the first major-party presidential nominee since Dwight Eisenhower who had not previously held elected office, appears to have an unusually light appetite for reading.

Republicans don't.
Ah. So I imagined all the kerfuffle coming from Trump and his supporters about Biden's age and senility earlier this summer. Wow, what an imagination I have! I should write a book.

That's why it's hypocritical for those identifying as democrat to do it after accusing their opponents of doing what they themselves do.
Sauce for the goose and all that.

Yeah, it would be nice if everyone could be calm, reasoned and respectful at all times when discussing politics. But, that hasn't been the case for...well, ever.

I think they knew, they were just covering it up. I honestly think they thought he could make it through the debate and no one would notice and they could pawn it off as "he had a cold".

Rhen they couldn't so they kicked him to the curb Asa fast as possible.

I wonder if Harris and Walz will have "colds" when they do the CNN interview tomorrow. Nothing that a little editing won't cure, eh? Good thing it won't be live!

The only major candidate who isn't a confused old man. The only major candidate who isn't a convicted felon. The only major candidate who hasn't been found to have committed sexual assault. Stuff like that.

Has any adult woman ever been charged with sexual assault of another adult person?

Yes. But of course it still counts if the victim is a minor.

Sounds like another difference between a political party and whatever the republican party has become. When it became clear that Biden was too old to be effective, the party moved to replace him.

Notice, that in spite of Trump's numerous fumbles, imaging Revolutionary War airports, and the like, republicans won't give him up even as he gets more and more confused. Like Nikki Haley, they keep hoping he can pull himself together and somehow be competent.

It's not happening.
