Let me answer you with a short story.

In a land far away an emperor went to the market square dressed in nothing. Before he went he sent his royal guards before him telling the people to cheer for the his new clothes and to question not said clothes. With glee he walked to the market place. The people cheered for his new clothes. Few dare to question because swords were drawn by each and every royal guard along the path.

Yet in the crowd voices were heard commenting on the emperor's nakedness. Some were obvious truths, some were half truths and others were just lies. In a total lack of self awareness the emperor has his royal guards thrown all into the dungeon. Evildoers one and all in his eyes. As time passes the emperor grew old and a new claimant to the throne appeared. The royal guards sensing the impending doom, came forward and said yes indeed the emperor wore no clothes at the market square so long ago.

The old emperor seeing how the new claimant might punish him for past wrongs came out to said he was only doing it for the good of the people. And many of his loyalists continue to say the emperor was right. The End.

The issue is not the suppression, it is the government sponsorship of the suppression. If this was a private corporation making responsible decisions I would be fine with it. The idea of the government deciding what is allowed is very problematic no matter what administration initiated it.

While some of the things that were labelled misinformation were, and are indeed still, shown to be actual misinformation.

...some of the things that got "flagged" back then, ended up actually being shown to be correct later on.

Posts regarding natural immunity, the (lack of) efficacy of cloth masks, the arbitrary nature of the social distancing policies, mentioning that it made little sense to restrict outdoor activities since outdoor is safer than indoor, discussing the possibility of a lab leak.

All things that were verboten and that would get your posts removed and your account restricted.
