Do Celebrity endorsements help a candidate? Taylor Swift does not want to endorse anyone because she does not want her fans to riot at a concert. Oprah does not seem to have a problem to endorse people.

I have no idea, cos I do not care about following celebrities or pop stars. Also, when I am watching a show, I do not care who is acting in it, as long as the acting is good, and the plot is good. Half the time, I can not even remember who acted in what movie or TV show. Most of the music that I listen to is from smaller artists who make music in their homes or small indie labels, Christian music, or from musicians that are either dead, or getting gray hair. :)

Depends on if (and how many) people like the celebrity.

If it's a celebrity that's pretty universally liked across the board, and is not seen as off-putting, it can help.

If it's a person half of the people in the country hate, it's just giving ammo to the other team and tying the celebrity's baggage to the candidate.

can not reason for themselves.
They can not think for themselves. The amazing thing is they will let a pastor or a shock jock do their thinking for them. The Bible clearly teaches we are to have the mind of Christ. The Holy Spirit is to be our Teacher and Guide. NOT man.

Then I guess that excludes Trump.
Trump is technically a celebrity, one who has an ego, so we should most certainly never vote for him. Most celebrities are very worldly, and are not for God's Kingdom. No candidate is good in 2024 sadly. Trump (and even Kamala to an extent) are a sign of End Times, if you ask me.

I would not argue with you about that. But it is not our place to judge people. Most people believe that God can use everything to accomplish His plan and purpose. WE are told that all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose.

Amen to that. We are supposed to pray for our enemies, even for those who are under the influence of evil. Ahh, makes me realize I have to release that devotional today, but got distracted.

Endorsements must be sincere. Cybil Shepherd, a vegetarian, found that out making beef commercials.
I believe all Harris' endorsers are sincere (and TBT because I cannot imagine anyone endorsing Trump but also because they give good reasons.)
I believe Trump's endorsers are sincere. Musk perhaps for Spac e X funding. Thiel--something to do with crypto. Never listen to Kid Rock or the other singer.

one who has an ego
That is what Hulk Hogan says. But the Bible says to the pure all is pure. So I would not even know what it means to have or not have an "ego". I studied a little bit of psychology in college but that was a long time ago. I think it was a required class in our freshman year.

We are supposed to pray for our enemies
This was a real challenge for Corrie Tan Boon when she encountered the meanest cruelest guard from the concentration camp she was in. It takes the power of God to do a work of forgiveness in our heart. In Heaven everyone loves everyone if we want to get in. So our enemy is no longer our enemy there and no one knows for sure who will be in Heaven and who will not be in Heaven?

Yes it is. If your daughter brings home a convicted child offender who regularly takes drugs and is constantly drunk and foul mouthed, what do you tell your wife? It's not for you to judge?

I watched a documentary (Corrie Ten Boom: A Faith Undefeated) of her in 2022 with my parents. The movie made me tear up, cos she forgave her enemies. Reminds me of this verse from Matthew 5, one that I struggle with all the time, as I am quick to judge others.

Matthew 5:43-48 (NKJV): "You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect."

The show's distribution company was nice enough to upload it to YouTube as well (Duration = 58 min, age rating: 15+ due to sensitive topic):

It is technically our right to rebuke, but we must be careful of using it. So yes, this can become a tangled mess, but sometimes we must rebuke, only if to help others, or protect others.

Proverbs 28:23 (ESV): "Whoever rebukes a man will afterward find more favor than he who flatters with his tongue."

1 Timothy 5:20 (ESV): "As for those who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest may stand in fear."

Exactly right. We judge other people when we have to decide whether to trust them. Or whether you trust them to be around others. It's why I used Trump as an example of someone that you were thinking of hiring for your company. I mean, seriously, with the list of things he has done and said, who in his right mind would say 'Well, this is the type of guy we want working here.' Whatever his qualifications, you simply wouldn't even consider it.

Yep, I would give Trump two weeks grace period to change his ways, then fire him (if he never repented), if he worked at my company (if I owned a company).

I'll let you deal with the litany of complaints you'd get from every female worker that you would even let the guy through the front door.

That is true. As soon as I get a complaint from a woman, I would fire him. I was never assaulted, by the grace of God, and I am a guy, but someone did try reaching down there when I was a kid. He was a year older than myself. In the 2000s, at age 8 or so, my parents former friend’s son named David (adopted from Bulgaria, and had mental disorders) kept on yanking my pants down, but I did not understand what he was doing at the time. So, I socked him, and shortly afterwards, the friendship was broken by 2009 after his father got mad at me for no reason. Since then, my parents and I are no longer in contact with David’s parents or his family.

Fast forward to 2022, my mom told me that David at age 19 committed third-degree SA on a 16-year-old minor boy and went in front of a judge on May 30, 2018 and was sentenced to jail. No wonder why David was touching me all over all those years ago, as he was on his way to become a future sex offender nearly a decade later.

I had a friend. He had been a part of Hitler's youth and sent to the front line when he was 12 years old. They threw him in a Polish Concentration camp where a guard knocked out one of his eyes with the butt of a rifle. Today they would say he had PTSD, but back then they said he was paranoid. He though people were out to get him. I have heard that it was not optional, the youth had to be a part of that organization. He escaped when he cut down a tree and pole vaulted over the barb wire fence. Don't know how he got a visa to come to America.

We all need God to rescue, save, heal and deliver us.
The amazing thing is he causes all things to work together for good.
