  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Comer isn't finished with Joe Biden, the investigations are ongoing

The Oversight Committee hasn't held a hearing on Biden since March.

That's why people were asking in April when the the charges or referrals were coming. Comer said weeks. "You're about to find out."

Nothing.

And they are not doing anything.

Comer will doubtless write some letters and release some press releases in October, but it's over. Kaput.

Comer's done and his part of the report is done. But it was all just a political ruse, I presume to (im)properly subpoena people.

James Comer: Launching impeachment inquiry 'didn't have anything to do with impeachment'

Now he's done.

House Republicans released the report from their impeachment probe of President Biden without finding any direct evidence he was involved in his family’s business dealings when he was vice president.

House Republicans on Monday released a long-awaited report from their impeachment probe into President Joe Biden’s activities

Republicans did not recommend further action

What's the point? They know that even if they managed to wrangle the votes to impeach in the House, there is no way the Senate is going to convict. And of course Biden is no longer the candidate, so this won't effect the election the way they want.

You have an investigation, you get a report. It's the Congressional way.

Beyond that, GOP blowhards can get in front of cameras during the DNC convention and utter dissimulatory impressions of what the report allegedly (but doesn't) contain.

I am wondering whether Mr. Trump's conviction will give the less ideological members of the Court to take limits on presidential immunity more seriously.
I recognize two are unreachable, but last week the Court was evaluating the case based on their faith in the relative integrity of our 46 presidents.
They can no longer assume that to be true. We now have a convicted felon among the 46, who through aggressive defense delay tactics, still has three more serious cases pending.
I wonder if those judges who want to preserve our union will realize that integrity, now or in the future, can't be assumed, and that significant limits need to be placed on immunity.

They aren't idiots.

Obama executed US citizens abroad....with drone strikes...and no oversight. He quietly allowed boys to be raped by Afghan warlords on US military bases.

Bush before Obama set up entire black site torture operations for the purpose of intel gathering. Remember Abu Graihb? I'm not going to look up how it's spelled....but you didn't buy that dumb story about a few rogue prison guards, did you?

Shall I continue?

They aren't stupid. They understand what president's do. That's why they admitted to their broad immunity. If we jailed presidents that broke the law....every president would die in jail. It wouldn't work.

.....

This pushed by Republicans but from what I heard it's largely from the IRS trial of Hunter's tax evasion. You see, Hunter's lawyer claimed he wasn't mentally sound enough to pay his taxes. The prosecutor is trying to show he was mentally sound....because he took a million dollars from a Romanian billionaire to try and use the State Department to get him out of jail.

You know, like he used his dad's work with the State Department in the Ukraine to get a prosecutor fired.

A jury presupposes a trial is taking place. Ipso facto Biden is competent to stand trial in this scenario. Quod erat demonstrandum.

Well why isn't he being charged then?

It's not as if there was a lack of evidence. He's mentally gone.

It's bizarre to watch anyone argue this point. He quit running for office. We all know why.

Why does the report not call for any next steps to be taken?

As I stated before:

GOP blowhards can get in front of cameras during the DNC convention and utter dissimulatory impressions of what the report allegedly (but doesn't) contain.
That also includes writing press releases with the same mendacious content.

It's over.

Maybe Republicans are going soft on crime like all of those liberal DA's.
It's funny, the report lambastes Democrats for 'cheapening' the meaning of impeachment and lowering the bar in the Trump proceedings.

We're apparently supposed to believe that Comer and Jordan are standing on their lofty ideals, and they are going to NOT impeach Biden in order to show Democrats how things are (not) done.

The evidence against Biden is in the bank, prosecution will start when Trump is in office, and it's a majority house/senate

If Trump wins...I'm not sure he's going to go after Biden. I do think he'll go after everyone else.

They don't even have enough votes to get this nonsense out of the House. There must be a few Republicans who want an end to the drama.

Well it's not great....the FBI and DOJ have clearly protected Joe since day 1. I agree they won't be able to impeach...but if they have more solid evidence, let's hear it.

"Clear" to you but not to most Americans who see petty, childish vindictiveness.
Biden maintained absolute non-interference in his son's case for a much, much more trivial case than DJT's.
A different president probably would have fired a half dozen FBI directors till he found a compliant one...

Its my opinion He's going to have Joe and Hunter Biden investigated and prosecuted to show the world the truth, as the democrats say "Nobody Is Above The Law"
