Tim Walz's approval rating surges as JD Vance's falls

Walz has a net favorability rating of +11, according to a survey conducted after he was announced as Harris' running mate.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz's approval rating has surged since he was announced as Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate, while Republican Donald Trump's pick Ohio Senator JD Vance has seen his fall.​

A YouGov survey conducted on August 8, two days after Harris announced Walz as her vice presidential pick, found he had a net favorability rating of +11. That was up from a +1 net favorability in another YouGov survey conducted in late July.​

Vance, on the other hand, has seen his approval rating drop since Trump announced him as his running mate on July 15.​

The Republican's net favorability was -6 in a YouGov survey conducted between July 15 and 19. It dropped to -9 in another survey conducted between July 22 and 25.​

JD Vance, the Ohio senator and Donald Trump's 2024 running mate, is recording huge net negative favorability ratings in his home region, according to a poll.

A CNN/SSRS poll revealed that 28 percent of people hold a favorable view of Vance in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin, with 44 percent saying they have an unfavorable view of the MAGA senator.

The Ohio senator's net favorable rating was at -6 points after the Republican National Convention (RNC), according to CNN's senior data reporter Harry Enten. This is far behind the general average since 2000, which was +19 points.

Let's take a look at the net unfavorability of Harris on July 9, just one month ago.

Wow! +17.5 unfavorable! Harris must have made some INCREDIBLE accomplishments in the last month! I'm sure someone can list them all here to help explain why IN A MONTH opinions changed so rapidly and drastically. This is almost like a George W. Bush-level, post-9/11 bump in popularity.

And his ongoing cognitive decline, including weird interviews and failures to follow the teleprompter talking points probably hurt.

Mostly, it seems the comparison with Trump is what's pushing her popularity upwards.

The fact that Harris has been successful at pretty much everything she's set out to do, while Trump's life is littered with business failures, failed lawsuits, criminal and fraud convictions; he's a bitter loser who can't concede that he lost the election. It makes for a rather stark contrast.

He's a criminal; she made a career of putting criminals away.

Rather clear choice, no?

Harris has been totally propped up by the media and social media. Every news story is favorable and positive about her. All the pundits on the left stream video love and support her, brag on her tell everyone how great she is. They do the same with Walz. He's wonderful, amazing and never does or says anything controversial.

Then they go on to rip Trump and Vance. They talk about how shocking and horrible they are etc etc. Everything they say is shocking and controversial.

This is a totally media driven hype and the low information voters are being influenced. It's been proven now that the internet, YouTube and social media platforms are doing everything they can to feed people left wing propaganda and hide anything negative about Harris and Walz while pumping only negative things about Trump and Vance and hiding anything positive about them.

THIS is how elections are manipulated. They have now seen their power and Influence.

Whether it's effective enough remains.to be seen, but they are certainly trying. And if they lose this election, they will go back to work to do better next time.

That's how it works. Each side brings up the stuff they want. I usually backstop with Reuters which has a good reputation for neutrality and factual reporting.

I suppose everyone thinks that sites that don't lean their way are biased. But we should at least try to keep it real.
