  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

...pfffffft.

If a US governor is "tyrannical", how would you describe Kim Jong Un?

Oppressive.

You know....that word the left uses when they don't immediately get everything they want, immediately.

Oppressive is a regime that denies it's own citizens their guaranteed freedoms...I'm certainly not saying Walz is as big an example as Kim...but it's the same principle.

It’s frightening.

Take comfort in the fact that they are genuinely too dumb to succeed. This is an armed nation....and they know there are limits to what they can impose.

Woman breaks laws, woman gets punished for doing so, woman cries foul about it?

The law demanded she impoverish herself and close her business for little to no clear benefit.

It was unjust, and she was right to defy it.

Minnesota grandma jailed for defying Walz COVID lockdown orders warns 'you do not want tyranny at this level'

Crazy stuff coming from MN.
This says it all:

'...she is not convinced she will support the Republican nominee in the 2024 election, citing what she has learned about Operation Warp Speed and Trump taking credit for the development of the COVID-19 vaccine.'

She literally will not be voting for Trump because she thinks he was instrumental in helping to develop a Covid vaccine. Crazy stuff indeed. Please keep it coming.

Oh, and this made me laugh:

'...because I had my doors open and willing customers came in to patronize me."

It’s funny how some folks love tyranny.
Don’t break the law of the land? You might not know this but Romans 13:1–7 in the Bible describes the responsibility of Christians to submit to government authorities.

How were their economies affected longer other than the fact that here in GA people did not want to WORK? That was one thing that took forever is people who worked in the service businesses did not want to work because it was easier to collect a check. Take the checks away and people will work even for peanuts awfuly quick
Nobody really wants to work for peanuts if they can avoid it. Why should they?

Except in Rome...when asked to offer a little incense to the emperor.

That was still a submission to the governing authorities. They as a matter of conscious broke the law, and they accepted the consequences of doing so.

Breaking the law is now the same as submitting to the law?
If you cheerfully accept the punishment yes. All the law is is a statement that if some prohibited behavior happens, or something mandated doesn't happen, then a certain punishment is applied. By accepting the punishment, you are acknowledging the authority of the government to issue it in the first place.

So God wanted the Christians to offer incense to the emperor because it was a lawful order, and they had it all wrong?

I'd suggest that the government in question would be a democratically elected one. As opposed to a dictatorship.
The Roman Empire was a democratically elected government? Or do you not know what it means to offer incense to the emperor?

How does that say it all? This thread isn’t even about Trump.

Wow. You would have been one to support slavery based on this understanding.
