No religion, no politics, no talking about crushes at work. That's a well-known saying. Who is the author?
"I never discuss anything except politics and religion. There is nothing else to discuss." - G.K. Chesterton (Anglican to Catholic convert and philosopher/author).No religion, no politics, no talking about crushes at work.It is a societal norm. I do talk somewhat about these things, but only with trusted individuals.
I've heard it often, but tonight I got to wondering about it. We learn so much by conversation. I don't enjoy arguments, but that statement isn't in my Bible. No religion, no politics, no talking about crushes at work.It is a societal norm. This is very common in the UK. It’s considered inappropriate to bring either up in normal conversation. You really need to sound out who you’re talking to if you want to discuss either if you don’t want to look weird in the UK.That's a well-known saying. Who is the author?

GK Chesterton sounds like an interesting guy to talk to, cos I like discussing heavy topics."I never discuss anything except politics and religion. There is nothing else to discuss." - G.K. Chesterton (Anglican to Catholic convert and philosopher/author).

Probably independently arrived at by numerous sage people. Like the golden rule. That's a well-known saying. Who is the author?
It’s more of a cultural thing in the UK.Don't discuss religion or politics in this world actually means no Gospel allowed. To say that no politics or religion should be discussed is the setting forth of a political policy that the Word of God is not allowed.
My mother forced this rule on the family-at-large back in the 70's to keep large family get to together civil. It has worked so long that we have to tell the 3rd generation about it.Everyone's mother and daughter because they didn't want to hear arguing during dinner...
I think originally it was just part of polite society and being proper. There were times and places just not the dinner table.
Sex and money are the other two topics to avoid in polite society."I never discuss anything except politics and religion. There is nothing else to discuss." - G.K. Chesterton (Anglican to Catholic convert and philosopher/author).
