It's just a claim by someone else's religion about how they are going to be top dog because it is ordained by their god. I have no reason to accept their claim, I don't know why you would accept their claim of domination if you don't accept their god. "They are right wing organizations" doesn't disprove my point. So...they are organized. Organization does not, in itself, make them evil. I'll bet there is an organized Communist Party in the UK as well.

It was. It just wasn't so overt. When I was in my late teens I don't think I knew anyone (and I'm including myself) who wasn't what we would definitely describe as being racist. Likewise homophobic and sexist. And again, I'm including myself.

There were many Pakistani immigrants at the time and a fun night out might have included some (forgive me for using the term) Paki-bashing. That is if you couldn't find someone who you thought was gay. Thankfully the crowd I ran with never sank that low. But there but for the grace of God...

The current wave of rioting was instigated by far-right media/Russian propaganda outlets (deliberately, I would assume) misidentifying the suspect in a recent stabbing attack as a Muslim asylum seeker.

A Welsh young man killed three children with a knife. Many people on the internet began to post deliberate falsehoods that were then uncritically reposted by people didn't do the most remedial fact checking. Specifically the murders where done by an asylum seeker who was on a terrorist watch list who was ignored because of his browness.

The the EDL a band of right wing thugs started rioting. Protesting against brown and black people and Muslims. Various thrill seekers and opportunistic criminal started looting. Libraries, hotels and religious buildings were attacked, burned and ruined.

...as I recall, there was a thread on this forum misrepresenting the facts.

You know who wins when people fail to vet information or fall for titles intented to inflame? Vladimir Putin. He loves to see groups within Western democracies turn on each other.

I think it's more organised. And there's more immigration. The only people I saw when I was late teens that were foreign born were the waiters in the local Indian or Chinese restaurant. That was certainly true where I grew up in South Wales. So if you were racist then there wasn't a lot of opportunity to be racist. But now, if you're doing it tough and maybe out of work (and after quite a few dire years under the Conservatives, that's a lot of people), then it's easy to pick immigrants as people who are taking the jobs. Causing your problems. So 'we don't want them here'. Where 'them' means anyone who looks like they were born overseas.

Their religion, their colour, their place of origin, why they are there, what they contribute, how long they have been there doesn't really concern most of these thugs. They are just 'them'. And they don't want 'them'. It's xenophobia plain and simply. Uber nationalism.

Time was when you saw someone walking down the street waving the Union flag it was celebrating the anniversary of D Day or something similar. Now it's a sign of a far right demonstration.

It is certainly a consideration if you are black or brown. The EDL have been stopping cars in towns if the driver is black or brown and assaulting them.

It’s awful some of my friends are afraid to come to work on public transport.
