  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Donald Trump to his nephew with a disabled son: "Your son doesn't recognise you - you should just let him die!"

Hmmm. And yet the left have this

Whataboutism. And not analogous. Being pro-choice isn't necessarily about denigrating the lives of the disabled.

Hmmm. And yet the left have this

Of course. Voting is a process one does holding one's nose. There's always going to be something WAY off. Full disclosure - I'm Australian and cannot vote in these elections. But this is what I posted on a Youtube very similar to that one.

"I would vote for Kamala over Trump any day of the week. Trump denies basic climate science, denies immigrants are good for the economy, and wants to weaponize immigration just as certain other brown-shirted villains from the past weaponized other ethnicities. It's the classic process that drums up support against the threat of those "Others". Sociologists call it "Othering" - and the wannabe dictator chants their slurs so often it is like this hatred becomes part of the air you breathe. That hatred can kill - or at least lead to gross social injustices.
BUT on abortion, Kamala is wrong. It's not a decision about a woman's own body, but a unique set of DNA - a scientifically unique human being. It's a decision about another human life, however inconvenient. It may impact the woman for 9 months - and be traumatic and horrible. But there are other ways - like adoption, like the poor lady going on a "holiday" or "exchange program" to have the baby in private away from her social sphere if it is too mortifying. But WHEN did we get the right to kill someone because they were inconvenient to us?"
But what I want to ask Republicans that would just ban abortion - since when did that raise compliance with all the other moral codes that are expected by that policy? Doesn't it just drive abortion underground? Also - when did abortion become the only 'right to life' issue at the exclusion of all others? What about universal healthcare? American's pay 6 times the average OECD health bill and yet get worse outcomes. Australia has universal healthcare and because our government can purchase in bulk orders, and because it is largely nationalised and the greedy hand of health insurers are not playing "piggy-bank in the middle" with our money - we get universal health care VASTLY cheaper than Americans - with better outcomes!

What about the 'right to life' of the poorer nations on earth that would be destroyed by Trump's climate denial?
What about the fact that Trump would be a "Commander in Chief in Absence" as he refuses to listen to CIA briefings?
See interview with former CIA director here.
That he might weaken the strongest military alliance on earth - NATO - and just pull out of it - making the world weaker and Putin feel like he can do whatever he wants? That if this lead to a full scale nuclear war - 360 million would die in the initial blasts - but 5 BILLION would starve to death in the nuclear winter that followed? (Latest science! 4 minutes
)

Australia doesn't really have an abortion debate in our politics the way America does. Abortion is NOT Christian - but neither is being heartless about climate change, the poor, those who cannot afford healthcare, and the potential risk of a nuclear winter.
CS Lewis once said that the most political thing you can do is share the gospel with your neighbour. Maybe if the American church were a little less anti-abortion, and a whole lot more 'love your neighbour as yourself' and able to think through complex nuanced things like the separation of church and state, like how their own moral code might not be something they can force on the world, like how climate change is real, poverty is real, the health crisis is real, the housing crisis is real, etc etc etc... maybe, just maybe the phrase "American evangelical" would be a little bit less offensive to the rest of the world? American Evangelical

And maybe they would realise that weaning off oil and onto EV's is not only good climate and energy policy, and going to reduce the number of pollution related deaths in America - but also cuts funding to Petro-Dictators like the Middle East and Russia! That it's just plain PATRIOTIC to wean the world and America off oil ASAP as it will bankrupt one of your biggest threats!

THAT is why I would vote for Kamala!

Do you mean like all other laws against murder?
Also - when did abortion become the only 'right to life' issue at the exclusion of all others?
Because one must be alive for all of the others to mean something. You are advocating sacrificing to Moleck.

I wonder what kind of history Trump and his nephew have with each other.
IMO, Fred Trump is relatively a nobody and he comes out with a story that cannot be corroborated by anyone who was there.

The more I hear about Donald Trump - the more I wonder how the Republicans could have possibly let him become a candidate?

As a centrist, the rhetoric from both Trump and the left have become very dark over the past 5 years. We are in the End Days, my friend. We need more moderate Republicans and conservative Democrats in office.

Why? Memory is not the most important thing for life. Your inner experiencing/consciousness is. Memory is just a tool for specific tasks, not too important in, for example, dreams.

If I can't remember family members who I love what's the use of sitting in an old folks home partly brain dead? "Your inner experiencing/consciousness is" How do you know?

If you are talking about for example Alzheimer, those people still have thoughts and experience things. They just have outages of their last memories, and they, for example, think they live in the past, which makes them confused and lost in space and time.

They are not brain dead, though.

Not knowing the details Donald may have a point.

It doesnt seem right in certain cases to keep people "alive" when theyre basically dead.
“I don’t know, he doesn’t recognize you. Maybe you should just let him die and move down to Florida.” -- Donald J. Trump

trump 11.png

In some ways, William Trump is a typical teenager. He likes to swim, snack on peanut butter sandwiches and roughhouse with his older brother. He has wide, blue eyes, an untamed smile and a love for reggae music inspired by a Jamaican caretaker. Ice cream is one of his favorite things.

But unlike most of his classmates at Central Middle School, William, who uses a wheelchair, cannot walk, talk or care for himself. He has cerebral palsy, a physical disability diagnosed 13 years ago, shortly after his birth.

How do you know Trump actually said that?

Please link the Presidential candidate that said that - IOW prove your assertion
How do you know Trump actually said that?
Proof is only needed when it is anyone but Trump - I believe it is self evident that he is to be denigrated, slandered and reviled no matter the cost to truth or accuracy.
