According to the BBC News, the suspect is aged 17, born in Cardiff to Rwandan parents and moved to the Southport area in 2012. He was arrested at the scene. For legal reasons, his name cannot be reported.

Tragically a third child died overnight. Five children and two adults remain in a critical condition.

The suspect has not been named yet, and will not be unless a judge allows it. We know that the youth is 17 years old, was born in Cardiff (Wales) to Rwandan parents. So far we do not know whether they came for asylum, but they are apparently still living in Southport.

As for the details of the suspect, Channel 3 must have simply made this up. They certainly got it wrong. Perhaps Landon Caeli should delete this reference in the original post.

There has been a disturbance outside a Mosque not far from the scene of the murders, caused by social media lies claiming that the suspect was a Muslim asylum seeker. The rioters were members of the English Defence League, a well-known neo-Fascist organisation. The people of Southport are horrified by these outsiders taking advantage of their grief.

It is important to understand that lies are propagated on the internet. That this thread began with such a lie is, frankly, horrifying.

The seventeen year old's name has not been released. That is in line with British law protecting minors.The website you posted did not know his name. They couldn't have.
