Because that's what it means to them. We all agree that benefits come at a cost to somebody. Nobody thinks that benefits come out of thin air at no cost to anybody--despite the fact that you like to pretend that we do.

I disagree. I think a lot of folks think loan forgiveness, for example, is out of thin air.

To continue to make the argument that "free money comes from somewhere" is assinine; as though the other possibly is alchemy is actually being argued.

Besides, you think third party insurance is free? IT's the EXACT SAME THING? There is no worthwhile argument to be made.

So you personally get to decide how your tax dollar is spent. Actually, you get to keep it all if you don't want to spend it on anything. Want to chip in to build a road? Got a couple of bucks towards a new school? A new hospital? The town needs a new fire station, can you help?

Nah, you only want to pay for a road that you might use. Unfortunately, not everyone will use the road, so most don't chip in and it doesn't get built. Neither does the hospital, because most people won't use it. Neither the school, because only people with kids likely to go there will chip in.

Maybe you should think this concept through for a while.

It's education. That's a universal good. It really sounds like you don't want to pay for it. It really sounds like you want to restrict it to those who can afford it. Maybe like, I dunno, health care.

Enlighten me. If student loan debt is forgiven but nothing is done to address the ridiculous, crippling high costs of tuition, is the intent to forgive student loan debt perpetually, or is it just this current group of students that gets a break?
