  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I heard murmurings here and there accusing Trump of having dementia. Will that become the rallying cry? Don't vote for Trump! He has dementia!

I have thought long and hard about the Biden dilemma. I would prefer a replacement--Gov. Andy Beshears, but if it doesn't happen, here's what I think.
Biden's cabinet and staff members have all been capable, honest, and for the people.
I would be concerned if he had a close advisor who, for example, had 34 felony convictions and was awaiting trial for 54 more, after having operated a fraudulent university and cheating taxpayers by half a billion in tax fraud. Such an advisor could harm our country if Biden were susceptible due to advanced age.
But hey, Biden surrounds himself with good people.
The felon with staff members who were also convicted felons is his opponent.
So it's no contest.

I appreciate this forum. It gives me insight into the rationalizations people make for themselves. Last week, Biden supporters said there was no cognitive impairment. This week, Biden supporters are finally and begrudgingly forced to admit that yes, there are concerning signs of cognitive impairment, but they'll vote for him anyway.

Turns out Biden's cognitive impairment was NOT in fact Russian propaganda. Whodathunkit!

I will be the first to tell you that Biden is not cognitively impaired, and I would vote for a dead Job Biden over Trump. Dead Biden would still do a better job.

The fact that Trump has serious mental issues has been said for the better part of 10 years.

I am fearful about people's "perception" of Biden's cognitive impairment, not actual impairment, although I have concerns heading into 2028.

Do I think that ethical, thoughtful voters will vote for Trump "instead of" Biden? Absolutely not. But young people may sit out the election, and that will hurt down ballot candidates.

Some young people think only the train wreck of another Trump presidency will wake people up enough to stage a bloodless revolution and elect a "real" progressive in the order of Bernie Sanders, AOC, etc. I have told my own daughter that the very real risk is that the train wreck would result in setting up so many roadblocks to protect the corporate oligarchy that it would be virtually impossible to rid our country of these menaces.

What?! This can't be! Why, just today I was told (in another thread) that there is NO ONE in this forum who believes that Biden isn't cognitively impaired.

How anyone could watch that debate performance and come to the conclusion that Biden isn't experiencing some kind of cognitive impairment is beyond me.

Let's go to the transcript:

“We'd be able to help make sure that all those things we need to do, child care, elder care, making sure that we continue to streng-, strengthen our health care system, making sure that we’re able to make every single solitary person, uh, eligible for what I’ve been able to do with the uh, the COVID, excuse me with, dealing with everything we have to do with uh….. Look... if we finally beat medicare."

Nope, no signs of cognitive impairment here! Just a perfectly normal, rambling statement that provided Trump with ammunition to say that Biden "beat medicare to death".

You're clearly in the minority. There is palpable panic in the Democratic ranks now that the world has seen Biden's cognitive impairment on display. No more hiding behind claims of "cheap fakes" or other such nonsense. It was clear in that debate that Biden is experiencing some kind of cognitive impairment. The only "perception" here is the reality of a dismal debate performance.

How could anyone watch the debate and not realize that the choice was between an elderly man and another elderly man who lied non-stop and implied that the very felonies he is currently charged for would be committed again if he lost the election?
Two choices--the senior or the criminal.
It should be an easy choice for Americans who believe in integrity and the law.

Criminal?

You mean the Judge in Manhattan New York (Juan Merchan) who had 55 pages of biased jury instruction for a jury trying a person?

To put it in biblical terms:

Mat 7:3
“And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?

Biden is also a liar and a narcissist.

A list of Biden's many lies:

This video explains Biden's narcissistic refusal to drop out despite his now obvious cognitive decline:
