Again, I completely and totally disagree with everything in this post.
Hanson doesn’t know the nature of the protests?

Many of us in the West are sick of anti-woke jihadism.
Many of us in the West are disgusted with the agendas of the Woke people.

Are you sure of that?
Yes, I am sure about that... perhaps not a good enough explanation about my disagreements for some of y'all. However, I am satisfied with what I wrote and shared.

OK. I did not find it convincing but I likely am not your target audience.

Why is this crank trying to exploit the latest tragedy to befall the Armenians of Artsakh to make a point about "wokeism"? The Artsakh Armenians weren't expelled from their ancient homeland (again) by "wokeism". The Azeris and their allies the Turks are most definitely not "woke" when it comes to their treatment of Armenians (nor of the remaining Syriacs, Assyrians, and Pontic Greeks), so that's just conflating everything to no good end, probably safe in the knowledge that this sort of screed is written for an audience that will not bother to look at any of the situations he ties together for the sake of gaining knowledge about them, since that's not the point of bringing them up in the first place.

This sort of appeal is really obvious and disingenuous. The fact that it works on a certain type of American partisan political animal doesn't say anything good about the critical thinking skills of those involved in culture warrior grievance-baiting.

For better or worse, the various plights of various peoples in rest of the world are not equally paid attention to. The collective plight of Armenians has been large in the public view since the Armenian Genocide (when it was very widely known in the US).

The oppression of the Uiygurs by China came to light several years ago and plenty of attention was paid to it, especially their use as slave labor. Big Western companies have tried to remove slave-made products from their supply chains (or so they claim). Other than keeping an eye on companies doing business in China there is not a lot more that can be done.

Tibet is similar. In that case it was the rising popularity of the Dalai Lama that inspired the earlier movement. Tibet had been under control of the Chinese government for decades before the "Free Tibet" movement rose in the West. In both cases our leverage over China generally is limited.

This sort of appeal is really obvious and disingenuous. The fact that it works on a certain type of American partisan political animal doesn't say anything good about the critical thinking skills of those involved in culture warrior grievance-baiting.
Agreed.
