I just got off the phone with my sister. She firmly, vigorously believes that Trump is the best president ever, can fix "everything", if anything bad happened January 6th it was Nancy Pelosi's fault and anyone convicted should certainly be pardoned, on and on. And I am the one who is brain washed because I do not buy it.

Anyone else?

My immediate family's political positions blend well, but living in a state that votes 65-70% Republican, I socialize with Republicans all the time. I don't bring it up among my politically incompatible friends.

They usually reciprocate, except for that memorable lunch after book group with the lady who said JFK Jr. and Princess Di were still alive and Joe Biden died in 2019 and is impersonated (alternate theory is that he is a hologram.)

Our group was politically diverse and we just let it go. It does make an interesting story.

Well, I pray for your sister. Maybe, show her Psalm 10:2-7. However, not only do I pray for those who got scooped up by the far-right, I also pray for those who got scooped up by the far-left ideology. If you have any family members or friends who support the far-left movement, show them 2 Timothy 4:3 (yes, that is ESV and not NIV, as this was taken off of another one of my devotionals).

Psalm 10:2-7 (NIV): In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak, who are caught in the schemes he devises. He boasts about the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the Lord. In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God. His ways are always prosperous; your laws are rejected by him; he sneers at all his enemies. He says to himself, “Nothing will ever shake me.” He swears, “No one will ever do me harm.” His mouth is full of lies and threats; trouble and evil are under his tongue.

Timothy 4:3 (ESV): "For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions".

Warning verse for Trumpers

Warning verse for woke liberals

My fault. I took the bait. She started on his recent rally and I said something about jail. So , my bad.

It comes down to, how do we all live together. We think each other delusional, brainwashed, hopeless.

Sounds like your sister is 100% correct, possibly listening to her would be of great help to you

@Akita Suggagaki , what is your political ideology? Is it far-left, left, center, right, or far-right? I am betting it is not the last one. For myself, I am close to the center. I recommend staying away from the far-left and the far-right, and sticking with the center, maybe the center left, and center-right. However, do not break up family due to politics. Your sister is probably a nice, kindhearted individual, so please continue hanging out with her. While you and I do not like Trump, I have learned a lot of good things from the right, and my politics have shifted from left to center over the past 18 months to a few years, and would probably remain near the center.

You don't like Trump?

The President that had the best economy in 50 years, highest income per capita, low interest rates, low unemployment and gas prices, stopped free trade with China, negotiated USMCA agreement, closed borders stay in Mexico policy, US energy independence on American soil, brought jobs back to America, on & on

It depends on the issue. I do not fit neatly anywhere but most likely center left.

I prefer to stay in some semblance of reality.

But no point arguing that here. It goes no where. More important is our ability to unify with diversity. But now even the word "diversity" triggers people. If we cannot come together I fear January 6th will happen again and be more widespread.

The "trigger," you call it, is that the term has become hypocritical. Have seen first hand "diversity" used as a fig leaf to cover purging anyone who didn't think like the "in crowd" or support the same things. The outcome of that was that the "in crowd" won, and trumpeted the victory of diversity. Wouldn't you know it, everyone in their group photo was white. Real diverse group, that.

Umm...what does like have to do with anything? It's not like we're talking about choosing a room mate.

Diversity?

You mean like having leftist school teachers convince 11 year old Johnny he's a girl and start hormone therapy, and transition surgery having his penis removed and breast implants?

Possibly adult homosexuals parading down the street with rainbow flags, exposing themselves to children and its OK?

Don't forget transgender story time for children in public libraries, with liberals taking advantage of innocent children in grooming

Perhaps we can pretend that the afore mentioned doesn't exist?

Part of the problem is that this is all "diversity" means to you.

I agree, those promoting diversity are pushing their agenda on families and innocent children in homosexuality and grooming

The average tax paying American is fed up with this craziness, they're leaving the Democrat party in the droves, it's going to be a Trump landslide in Nov 2024

Meaning? Anyone else who's a staunch Trump supporter or anyone else with a staunch Trump supporter story?
Maybe the better question is about strategies for fruitful discussion with others who have radically different world views.

I believe that are differences CAN enhance our lives. They can give us wisdom and strength. But we must first establish love as the priority, listen better and consider other views with objectivity rather than emotion driven lashing out.

Hey, at least you are center-left and not far-left. Hopefully, you are pro-environment, pro-life, and not for the gender bending stuff. Gender bending stuff is evil.

Definitely pro-environment, pro-life. I have not had gender identity issues. I do not know what it would be like. I leave that to those who struggle with it.

Amen to the first two things. :) Do you agree that trans stuff should not be taught in schools, as schools should be a place of learning life skills, math, history, reading and science instead of a breeding ground for gender bending ideologies?
