I'm good at letting stuff roll off my back. Think that's why I keep friends forever. The problem is most of them are old and either pass away or move to be close to family. There is a book on how to make friends and influence people. The advice is to find out what people are interested in and talk to them about that. It could be golf or their grandchildren. Often people find common ground of subjects that are of interest to both of them. My mom was the mayors daughter and she was popular with many people. The main thing she taught us is that you have to be like a duck and let the water roll off of your back. You can not be offended by what people say. You have to overlook it when people do or say something inappropriate Her dad was re elected and served the community for 22 years.
I like the idea of finding common ground.
