Penance after eating meat on a Friday

I try not to eat meat on Friday even non-Lent but if I do, what kind of penance would be suitable?

Well, probably a prayer could work. However, if you feel uncomfortable, you could confess to a local priest, and for the next month (June), eat vegan meat only, and store any unused meat in the freezer to be used in July. For myself, I prefer real meat, but this could be a good idea. If you need any vegan meat recommendations for June, just ask. I go to a store which sells vegan meats, and used to work at a grocery store and have seen dozens of types of vegan meat.

You can eat meat on Fridays outside of Lent as long as you do a charitable work.

Oh - I do a similar thing where I put some money in those little baskets that some guys carry on a pole, before the offertory hymn.

It seems like it is penance enough to eat healthy and to follow the government guidelines on how much fat we can can consume in a day. Maybe that has more to do with discipline and self control. God give us an abundance and then He expects us to limit ourselves on how much of that abundance we enjoy or consume. All the time with thoughts of sharing with others what we really do not need for ourselves. Maybe our penance should be to help someone in African to buy food that they otherwise could not afford. To share our excess with others.

OK. Anyways, I have more important stuff to do, such as analyzing the Bible verses on protecting children from worldly agendas.
