Even the left says that these cartels are real, and this issue has been going on/reported on for over two years or more (2022), however, the issue dates back to 2012 (Justice Department Announces Charges Against Sinaloa Cartel’s Global Operation). Also, cryptocurrency has been used for illicit drug trafficking, and as of 2023, was traced by the DHS. Man, this stuff is scary. Kids, don't do drugs. Glad I stay light-years (trillions of miles/kilometers) away from this stuff.

I worked for CBP at the San Ysidro Port of Entry for years - and I can tell you that they care more about commerce - keeping the cars moving - then they do about catching drugs or criminals.

If my lane slowed down because I started inspecting for longer than a few seconds - I would get a call from my Supervisor - telling me to hurry up.

I did catch a murderer once. That felt good. To actually do the job I swore to do.

We would still have all vehicles X-rayed before they were sent to Secondary - but the occupants had to agree to it.

If they didn't - an officer would need to drive their car through for them. I was X-rayed. A lot.

Agreed 100%. Money sadly comes before safety in this country, my friend. I am glad that @Zaha Torte no longer works for the San Ysidro team, as nobody appreciated his work, and the bosses cared about cashflow, and not catching criminals.

Most people (statistically) aren’t criminal nor smuggling illicit substances, treating all as such isn’t a civilized action.
Sure, it’s great that we employ people at the ports-of-entry…and want them to do good, thorough work, but there’s (legal) commerce to do and slowing that process down means more people employed by us to catch the same numbers of “criminals” and “drug-dealers”.

I think that cartels don‘t break down people’s doors to kill them with fatal doses of opioids.

I think that not wanting to get an X-Ray every time you go across the border is a reasonable thing to ask for, especially for people who do the trip numerous times per year. One X-Ray might be harmless, but the damage adds up.
