Speaking of denialists, my pastor, who is a YEC, makes the point that, of all the dating methods in existence, scientists will only take those that return deep time; and make up excuses why the others don't work.

This thread is a prime example:

MOONDUST

And what are those "other" scientific methods of which you speak?

All I know off the top of my head are moondust, ocean salinity, and something about the strength of the magnetosphere.

Evolution is for those that dont believe in the power of God. We are made in His image. We didnt evolve from apes....
Evolution is also for those who think that the power of God is greater than creationists believe.

Evolution is for those who believe there was death, decay, disease, dying, and destruction -- then God created man and pronounced His dead, decayed, diseased, dying, and destroyed creation, "very good."

But plenty of examples of people proving that they don't even understand the most basic evolutionary concepts.

Like cosmic evolution that evolutionists deny?

All I know off the top of my head are moondust, ocean salinity, and something about the strength of the magnestophere.

That's it? Those are the ones trotted out by Henry M. Morris and Gary Parker in their "Creation Science." Those are interesting arguments, but they're just arguments, arguments that aren't any stronger than when I was presented with them in a semester of "Creation Science" class I had to take while at bible college, way back in 1988.

I will admit that, due to my lack of familiarity with science at the time [i.e. in 1988], I was impressed by those arguments for a couple of years. But only a couple of years. The upshot in that experience was that because my professor also had us reading Niles Eldredge's, The Monkey Business: A scientist looks at creationism, in order to attempt to refute Eldredge with what Morris & Parker's had to say, the professor inadvertently kept me open to furthering my education in science.

So, yeah. I have a bunch of Creationist's book stacked on my shelves along with all of my mainstream science books/sources, and I have yet to come across a really compelling argument against evolutionary theory. It doesn't mean there isn't one out there just waiting to be discovered.....I just haven't come across it as yet.

And He would have been wrong because He disagreed with your value judgement?

Thanks for the QED.

And if you knew them already, why did you ask me to post them?

In the vain hope that you might have something new to offer? Are you not aware that scientists diligently search for contradictory evidence themselves?

Which one?

I have six:

1. Bible says x, Science says x = go with x
2. Bible says x, Science says y = go with x
3. Bible says x, Science says ø = go with x
4. Bible says ø, Science says x = go with x
5. Bible says ø, Science says ø = free to speculate on your own

Prime Directive: Under no circumstances whatsoever is the Bible to be contradicted.

Which one(s) does God disagree with?

I don't know. He may even disagree with what you think the Bible says.

I wanted to see if you had anything new to inform me about.

But, don't worry about it all so much, AV. I mean, seriously. At the end of the day, or at the end of the eschaton, whether I'm an Evolutionist where Earth's organization and God's activity are concerned has no direct connection with how I assess life and morality today.

In fact, I can still lean toward a Historicized Pre-Millennialism and see some of the same spiritual problems in the world separating this or that person from Christ just like my more evangelical and fundamentalist compadres do .............................. ;)

Ya -- science gets old after awhile, doesn't it?

Acts 17:21 ( For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing. )

Are you not aware that scientists diligently search for contradictory evidence themselves?

And what happens when they find it?

They change or abandon their theories. Isn't that what this thread is about?
