Irrelevant. Trump should be treated like everyone else for having classified documents. Charge him with obstruction if he didn’t comply. The law seems to give leniency when people comply and go tough when people resist.
That will be a very closed door decision. You will hear about it in an early morning press conference at Walter Reed hospital when a previously unheard of doctor will release to the public a carefully limited statement (because of HIPAA rules but mostly to be brief and memorable). Biden will already have been removed from the White House in the night to stay a few days at Walter Reed. By noon Kamala will be sworn in as president. And that will be that.Honestly, it's odd he's still president. If he's so impaired he's unable to be held accountable for his crimes....the Democrats that are currently in office should be voting to have him removed already.
Thought this was supposed to happen in the first few weeks of the term right after Hillary, or was it michelle, was made VP?That will be a very closed door decision. You will hear about it in an early morning press conference at Walter Reed hospital when a previously unheard of doctor will release to the public a carefully limited statement (because of HIPAA rules but mostly to be brief and memorable). Except apparently nobody wants Kamala. So this whole thing has to be pushed back to a day or two before the Democratic Party convention. The convention is August 19 - 24 in Chicago. (I remember their 1968 convention there. Wow!) I expect this particular drama to last until then. But then why was the prosecutor allowed to say now that the president was essentially unfit to stand trial? That sort of announcement should be only days removed from a fitness for duty exam. At least I would think.
... and why aren't they standing?
Prompted by the last two thread titles:
How would an 82 year old Biden govern as president?
Trump team argues assassination of rivals is covered by presidential immunity
Yet barring the demise of one or both, those are the two we got.My own dad died recently, and he had alzheimer's. Like Biden, he was also 81.
The reason I say this? I say this because I think the whole of the American people are sufficiently sensible and rational enough to recognize that neither Trump or Biden can be valid candidates for the next election.
It's as obvious as the light of day.
Yet barring the demise of one or both, those are the two we got.
Sure is, but no point in deluding ourselves that it’s going to happen. And I'm not voting for either one them. It's not a matter of choosing the lessor of two degenerative geriatrics ...
Sure, I'm all for letting Biden finish his term in perfect peace. But let's not re-elect either him or even a Republican who has already demonstrated a not too dissimilar set of deficiencies in his leadership. It's time to move on to other, better candidates. Not necessarily younger ones, but more proficient leaders.
Sure is, but no point in deluding ourselves that it’s going to happen.
But he is internationally. And with Trumps statements encouraging russian military attacks on NATO, is sitting it out an option.I'm not deluded. I know that if Biden and Trump are actually the only two options, then I'm not voting. Period.
Besides, all things considered with our governmental system, let's not pretend it's actually the President who runs the nation.
We all know that it's not. The President is the representative of the people, but it's not fully his (maybe her in the future) decision as to how the country is operating at any one given time.
I never could figure out why the vote for the President is given so much publicity in this country---it's not like we're actually voting directly for him (or maybe her) anyway.
But whatever. You all decide at the polls what mess you want for the next 4 years. It'll be a mess whether it's Democrat or Republican. Maybe by 2030 we'll finally get what we all need in this country.
But he is internationally. And with Trumps statements encouraging russian military attacks on NATO, is sitting it out an option.
Just imagine it's 1932 Germany, do you think sitting out an election because there will be a better choice next one a good idea?We need to get over this tired myth that America can be the Great Arbitrator of world peace on all sectors, for all issues and on all fronts. It's a grand idea ideologically; it's a terrible role to appropriate for ourselves in the attempt to assimilate that ideal on a practical scale.
Of course, I'm not claiming that my word on this is some wonderful antidote or answer to anything or that anyone should be listening to little ol' me. But, being that my education has dealt with Social Philosophy born out from the events of historical consideration on the World scale, I think I could muster a few valid opinions, one being: that we can barely take care of ourselves due to the mess of pluralism and corporate outsourcing our business moguls are so enamored with.
What makes us think we can take care of the rest of the world at all times, let alone counter all the actions of all other aggressive nations and their peculiar political ideologies? (oh, I'm sure I'm missing some things.... we all are.)
I mean, if I pull my copy of Wittkopf, Eugene R., and James M. McCormick, eds. The domestic sources of American foreign policy: Insights and evidence. Rowman & Littlefield, 2008 of the shelf----- what further idealistic deliberations might I conceive need to be thought through in choosing a president?
Is it just going to be for the sake of Foreign Policy alone? I think not.
As for Russia, they're weird. And they're going to stay weird until they get some new, more enlightened thinkers (more truly Christian thinkers, I'd prefer see) into their lil ol' Kremlin ... ... and our president isn't going to be able to do much of anything about the change that is needed in Russia.
No. Perhaps this is the most auspicious moment for a third party candidate.Just imagine it's 1932 Germany, do you think sitting out an election because there will be a better choice next one a good idea?
D Trump is of course going to get more air time than Ramaswamy.
Ramaswamy was never popular and so the audiences of media didn't really want to hear much about him.
RFK isn't popular, his anti vax stance is horrendous.
It is very unlikely that many people care about RFK as a presidential candidate,
and so audience of media don't really want to hear much about him.
Just imagine it's 1932 Germany, do you think sitting out an election because there will be a better choice next one a good idea?
