Menial jobs from your perspective. Not from theirs. Most of them have such "menial jobs" back in their home countries, they have experience in those fields, and are just looking to get paid more for their particular areas of expertise.

Farming is a skill like anything else is. It is just less highly esteemed by the public, even though it is among the most essential.

These people, by and large, are fleeing their countries because they can no longer raise a family, live without fear or excape violence and corruption. Why would they turn America into what they are fleeing from?

I was speaking in an economic sense, but it takes the mind some time to heal from trauma. While the traumatic healing process is going on, these people think that innocent things and people here are threatening and attacking them, which can inspire them to make poor decisions. Combine that with culture shock and their lack of familiarity with American law, and they have the capacity to make their native-born neighbors quite miserable.

Likewise, people who come from backgrounds of fear think it is okay to inflict fear on others, and thus who come from lands of violence and corruption may be corrupt and violent. It's not like we have a process to distinguish victims from perpetrators in illegal immigration. They are just coming over the border and we have no idea who they are.

Illegal immigrants cannot and will not vote. I believe the negative effects of the migrant overrun will create backlash in existing voting blocks far sooner than any path-to-citizenship ideas, and thus I believe the political consequences of allowing illegal immigrants into he country will be negative for all who allow and advocate for it.

The razor wire in the river not visible for being under water posed a hazard to people illegally crossing the border, federal agents, rafters and migrating animals. Cruelty is a feature, not a bug, of this policy of booby-trapping the river.
