  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I hope my dad never rises from the dead to run for president like Joe Biden clearly has (prove me wrong, White House doctors), and some Republican somewhere finds out that one of my friends on Facebook is a Chinese-American. I don't want to get in the kind of trouble Republicans are convinced that Joe Biden is in based on whatever any of this thread's nonsense is supposed to show.

Are they ramping up because of the recent ruling in NY that Trump is guilty of financial fraud? I don't get it. As if it's some kind of win to say "But your guy is a fraudster and a liar, too!" Putting aside whether or not President Biden really qualifies as anyone's guy (and I don't mean that in the sense that he's not somehow beholden to foreign business interests, as all government muckety-mucks are; I mean that in the sense that nobody seems to actually like him, while Trump has tons of sycophants and genuine fans, for some reason), all that would prove is that they're both frauds and liars. That's not exactly a happy moment for anyone, is it?

I swear, it's like some people like getting one over on their perceived political enemies more than they like having a functioning government so that we can, y'know...live in a first world country, with a government that functions. That thing that the vast majority of regular Americans who are not members of the multi-millionaire-government-aged-plutocrat class [and the Heritage Foundations who love them] would actually prefer to the current unending, bipartisan clown show?

I am curious about something. Exactly what kind of evidence would some of y'all need in order to convince y'all that Hunter and Joe Biden were involved in illegal activities?
Concrete evidence.

I give my children money when they need it. Perhaps I need investigated too?

The impeachment investigation just began so I don't know about "ramping up." Unfortunately Joe lied about knowing nothing about Hunter's business dealings, the White House changed their story just before public testimony was to take place. Hunter has not paid taxes for a number of years, has not been charged for those years, nor has he been charged with failing to register as a foreign agent. Hunter was given an unprecedented sweetheart deal by members of Joe's administration. The Bidens have been unwilling to explain exactly what each Biden did to earn money from a foreign country nor do we know exactly how the money was filtered through shell companies. Why in the world is the guy who gave Hunter a sweetheart deal in charge of the current administration "investigation?"

He lied? Was it under oath? If we investigated every politician who lied, Congress would spent all day every day investigating.

Sweetheart deal....is that a legal term which is indictable?

Biden's say it is none of our business how they earned their money....is this an indictable offense?

Congress should spent more time actually doing the peoples business like the budget deadline, and not a partisan witch hunt on behalf of trump. The republican congress is dysfunctional and is doing great harm to the country.

Okay? What's this in response to? The fact that they have no evidence of anything criminal on the President's part? Is this going to be another thing like how all these GOPers just know that the 2020 election was 'stolen', but the forthcoming 'evidence' never seems to show up in a court of law, when it would be most useful to have?

The impeachment investigation just began so I don't know about "ramping up."
Ramping up the baseless attacks on President Biden because his son has a drug problem, or received a wire transfer from a Chinese company he had a financial stake in, or whatever else they can come up with that is not a crime but they'll pretend is, for some reason. All this stuff that seems to be behind the impeachment attempt, you could say. (In other words, I think everyone is aware that you can't impeach the president for these things, but if you trickle out enough of these kinds of accusations, it might start to seem like something's there just because new allegations keep being made...or so the hope seems to be).

Unfortunately Joe lied about knowing nothing about Hunter's business dealings, the White House changed their story just before public testimony was to take place. Hunter has not paid taxes for a number of years, has not been charged for those years, nor has he been charged with failing to register as a foreign agent.

Wow. You're right -- that does sound like bad news for President Hunter Biden, a guy who definitely exists in that role!

Hunter was given an unprecedented sweetheart deal by members of Joe's administration.

Shocking. Just shocking. Wait, no. Normal. Completely normal for the rich and powerful to do. Doesn't make it right, of course, but if rich, powerful, politically-connected people getting the best deals the justice system has to offer means that everyone involved in them has to go to jail...well, you know, nevermind. I personally would be completely happy with that. What do I care if the president's son goes to jail, if he has done something that would warrant jail for someone who is not the president's son, and what do I care if the judges and prosecutors involved who set up such deals suffer as a result? If you work to pervert justice and continue inequality in this way, you should probably get a taste of your own medicine. But you'd have to be completely blinded by partisanship (read: the fact that this particular case involves a Biden family member, and Biden is not Trump, so this is so extra-bad) to not understand that not everyone would be as okay with this, as it sets a precedent whereby parents who angle for their children to be shielded from the consequences of their actions are thereby punished, and a great many parents do that at all levels of society (not just the ultra-wealthy), and wouldn't consider it something that they themselves should get in trouble for. (Source: I work in education, and the stereotype of parents who demand that their children be treated like the most extra-special boys and girls that we all know they are is practically not a stereotype; it's just every day at work for these poor kids' teachers, school admins, etc.).
The Bidens have been unwilling to explain exactly what each Biden did to earn money from a foreign country nor do we know exactly how the money was filtered through shell companies. Why in the world is the guy who gave Hunter a sweetheart deal in charge of the current administration "investigation?"

I've got a more fundamental question: Why or how is how the president's son gets his money or what he puts up his nose or any of this nonsense the subject of an attempt to impeach his father in the first place? It's obvious that the gap in logic is filled in by bad-faith politics that obviously assume that this is the only way to "get" Joe Biden, which is obviously the entire point of any of this. Nobody believes that the Republicans in charge of the current impeachment push actually care what Hunter Biden does.

So spare me and all of America with "Why did Hunter Biden get/do blahblahblah?" We don't really care, and you don't really care, and frankly the vast majority of Americans have better things to do than to even pretend to care. Including, one would hope, GOP lawmakers. This is political theater, same as every impeachment. (see: the Clinton/Lewinsky affair and how it puzzled the country with such pressing political questions as what the definition of "is" is; the lurid details in the Steele dossier that got attached to the Trump impeachment, even though the subject there was supposed to be election interference and to what degree Trump welcomed and/or cooperated with it, which has a heck of a lot more to do with the functioning of American democracy than if the president's son did coke behind the WH mess hall or whatever, though that's not a great look either, obviously).

There's a massive amount of evidence of wrongdoing by Joe Biden. I know the Democrat lines, for the border it is the border is closed, the border is safe, the border is secure. For financial wrongdoing by Joe it is that there is "no evidence." The Bidens should not be able to invoke privilege, when Joe is president and when it is directed by Joe or other high officials working for Joe those individuals need to be held accountable. They are using taxpayer resources for their own political gain. Lori Loughlin used her own money, using taxpayer money is certainly worse, Lori did two months in prison. But this appears to be much more than that, we have sworn testimony that Joe took a bribe of five million. And there are what, ten Bidens identified as having received money from foreign companies and it appears a number of them did nothing to earn the money. Joe is suspiciously absent from the group, but we have a statement from Hunter on his laptop that "half" went to Joe. There is direct evidence of Joe influencing the firing of a prosecutor. Every time the investigation pointed to Joe it was stopped. So now we are properly at an impeachment inquiry.

The revelation is another blow to President Biden’s insistence that he had no knowledge or discussion of his only surviving son’s foreign business interests.
“Bank records don’t lie but President Joe Biden does. In 2020, Joe Biden told Americans that his family never received money from China,” Comer said in a statement.
Joe needs to address his previous claim about his family never receiving money from China. The American people deserve the truth.
Correct me if I am wrong, but bank transfers are just that, bank to bank transfers. The transfers will go to a specifically named person with a specific bank account to transfer. The address used for the person is absolutely meaningless. To my knowledge, a use of Joe's address does not mean that Joe would know money was sent to a bank account, and it certainly wouldn't mean Joe received money from China. Comer knows whose name and whose account it was sent to, why doesn't he just mention that?

That Hunter was using Joe's address goes to the credibility of Joe's statement that he knew nothing of Hunter's business. Typically a bank mails at least some statements to the physical address of the bank account.

Not really. If it is true that Hunter once stayed at Joe's house then of course that address may have been used to open a bank account.
And no, most banks just as every other kind of businesses often make you opt in to mailed receive paper statements.
I mean really, this is kind of a no brainer that uses uncritical innuendo to make it seem nefarious.

You're doing to much blind sided assuming.
You asked about possible reasons, I'm not Comer. We will have to wait and see what they found. We know multiple Bidens received money, one of the things the inquiry will do is try and follow the money.

Perhaps you haven't been keeping up with the way that banks today are trying their best to cut costs by sending statements via email or logging into the account and printing them instead of mailing bank statements.

Is there any evidence the bank statements were mailed to the President's home?
Is there any evidence the President opened his son's mail if those statements did come to his house?

Do I? No, I haven't tried to FOIA anything in regard to Joe personally. This is the kind of thing the impeachment inquiry will hopefully find out, how much was Joe involved? There is sworn testimony that when the investigations pointed toward Joe the investigations were cut off. Let's wait and see what the committee finds.

Evidence like this should have been found first, and the House should have had a vote.

This is a witch-hunt

That's nice. You realize it is a federal felony to open mail that is not addressed to you? And I'm not sure why Joe would open Hunter's mail, much less why Hunter would want his dad to open it (with some of the places Hunter was spending money, and the amounts -- would tip off his dad to his drug use).

In the meantime, I've never gotten anything in the mail from my bank to confirm a mail transfer -- even when I was receiving paper statements. Additionally, every bank I've ever used has done a good job to prevent others from seeing my statement that was mailed (security envelopes with no account information visible). I'm not sure how having a bank statement sent to his Dad's house would have allowed his dad to see his statement?

I believe that Hunter Biden's only qualification to receive millions of dollars from foreign investors and possibly also foreign governments is the fact that he is Joe Biden's son.

I've haven't gotten a physical bank statement in years. In fact, when I went to get my ID I had to print out my bank statement because I didn't have a physical one. And as pointed out, even if there were physical bank statements sent, there is no reason to believe Joe Biden knew what was on them since generally speaking opening somebody else's mail is not a thing that's done.
