  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Nebraska governor signs order narrowly defining sex as that assigned at birth

No this isn't going to blow up in anyone's face.
Misclassification already causes problems:
Epidemiology 2019 Sep;30(5):669-678

Misclassification of Sex Assigned at Birth in the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System and Transgender Reproductive Health: A Quantitative Bias Analysis

Results:

Combined BRFSS data from 2014, 2015, and 2016 included 1078 transgender women, 701 transgender men, and 450 gender nonconforming individuals. Sex assigned at birth was misclassified among 29.6% of transgender women and 30.2% of transgender men.

Now imagine the mess when the government gets into the gender classification business. Sure, it's only a few tens of thousands of people. But why should they go through life with the wrong "official gender" just because they happened to have ambigous anatomy at birth? Presently, if the initial classification is wrong, a genetic test and maybe therapy can make them consistently whatever their genes say. Now, in Nebraska, that's illegal.

The nutcases think they can use the fist of government to make this better. But in these cases, they'd make it worse. Notice that the evidence suggests that "transgendered" people are often those who were incorrectly assigned gender at birth. Nebraska wants to make sure that such errors are locked down. The irony is that they might actually be causing more transgenderism.

That's what courts are for, to handle the exceptions. Basing public policy on the exceptions makes for bad law.

Like this one, yes? What purpose does it serve other than appeasing those upset by the exceptions?

I've never seen a cop at the door of a restroom. Where does that happen?
Check out archived if not current news items regarding stings or .... I don't know what else the stakeouts would be called .... large cities (or small), where attacks (and/or indecent public perversion / exhibition) were reported previously, ....

Nebraska’s Republican Gov. Jim Pillen on Wednesday signed an executive order strictly defining a person’s sex.

The order notably does not use the term “transgender,” although it appears directed at limiting transgender access to certain public spaces. It orders state agencies to define “female” and “male” as a person’s sex assigned at birth.

“It is common sense that men do not belong in women’s only spaces,” Pillen said in a statement. “As Governor, it is my duty to protect our kids and women’s athletics, which means providing single-sex spaces for women’s sports, bathrooms, and changing rooms.”

He should get wide support for following the science instead of social construct.

Except with that as a guideline, following science being the reason,or being promoted, is too often in error.

There is no error in the difference between a biological male and female - from DNA right down to bone structure.

That is correct, true, in line with God's Word, Plan, Purpose and all that He Has Revealed.

Science does not nearly always agree with truth.

In this case - biological science does in deed agree with truth.

It's one of those things where people feel they have enough control of government to make it get people they don't like. In this case, those kids whose gender is incorrectly determined at birth will be locked into a transgender state by law. But it's all political theater, designed to appease the mob. And it will backfire, producing exactly what they claim to hate.

"Degrees don't impress me. Being able to form a cogent argument, supported by evidence, impresses me."

Just offhand, I think you are too easy to impress.
Facts impress me. If they don't impress you, we've located the problem.

Think about "whites only" restrooms and water fountains. How did that go?

Sometimes perfect, sometimes not so perfect.
No. It was always immoral and an affront to American values. It's intrinsically evil. Yes, people did it and got away with it for a long time. That's the opposite of perfect.

Varies from totally peaceful, to very violent in history.
There was never anything peaceful about it.

The exceptions are the 0.01 percent of intersex people and the 0.05 percent of people actually suffering gender dysphoria.

More than 90% of people do not want people as pictured below entering women's restrooms:

"Facts" never were mentioned so far as I remember.
You merely ignored it. The research was quite clear and the facts they cited are well-documented. Instead of just ignoring the facts, try to do some investigation and see if there are any facts that support your assumptions. If not, then maybe that's a clue for you.

No. I did not ignore it, nor did I ignore you.
The things you presented so far are all subject to verification and testing, and not at all reliable in these circumstance, i.e. not "facts" until and unless actually proven ..

Wrong, naturally? Even slavery in history of the usa, in the last few years and longer ago,
was sometimes peaceful, whether moral or not.
So also the things you object to or are opposed to are your subjective opinion limited by your own knowledge .

That's not the issue here. The problem is some foolish people trying to lock a person's gender into whatever it was said to be at birth, even though gender misidentification occurs to thousands of people. Ironically, it will (if enforced) order there to be transgender people.

The incidence of a child with a disorder of sexual development (DSD) is approximately 1 in 1000 to 4500 live births

So about 75,000 to 300,000 Americans. Who cares about them? They do. Their families do. Will the law actually be enforced? I suspect maybe not. But it lies there like a land mine ready to upend the lives of a family in which this condition occurs. They will never know if their attempts to correct that mistake to assure the child is assigned the genetic gender they were born with, might result in Big Brother coming down on them for their "crime."
