If Babbitt and Boyland were killed by anyone it wasn't a political party was it? The only two groups that could possibly be blamed were the crowd (all Trump superfans including the two women you mention) and the police (a non-partisan group). That's why it's a good thing that trials are more rigorous than stories one hears. Evidence is produced, and a jury determines if the charges are proven beyond a reasonable doubt. As they were in the case of the Proud Boys of the OP.

That was a story that spread (including through reporters) because

A. The USCP were very tight lipped about the nature of the officer's injuries and cause of death for months
B. There were actual fire extinguishers used as weapons. Not as clubs, but thrown at officers. In at least one case a flying fire extinguisher hit several officers on the head.

The "information space" regarding those incidents was very poorly handled by the USCP. The video has indeed been analyzed to find any blows made to Officer Sicknick and no clear examples can be found. He is attacked by a chemical spray and immediately reacts. This might be related to the stroke he had later that night or not. There is one ambiguous bit of video that might show a scuffle between Officer Sicknick and a rioter, but the rioter has not been charged for anything but trespass. That rioter was actually denied bail *today* not for Jan 6th, but because he was the armed nutjob who went stalking former Pres. Obama in DC earlier this year.

They got control without using their firearms, so none of them did. (There weren't a lot of firearms at the Capitol so far as we know but there weren't also "none". The cops almost certainly had more guns by a wide margin. (It would seem that most of the rioters took heed of the DC firearms laws and did not enter the District with their guns or at least did not carry them when they went to the Capitol.) The Proud Boys were told by leadership (Tarrio et all., those who are the subject of this thread) not to bring firearms. The Oath Keepers kept their guns in a stash at a hotel in Virginia "just in case".
