I think I've been here too long. This reminds me too much of a thread from close to 15 years ago, about a Justice of the Peace who refused to marry interracial couples. Forgive me for not going back and trying to find the thread.
My belief here is the same as my belief in that case; you should not hold a government job if you are not willing and able to perform the duties required. In the military, I was required to follow lawful orders, even if it conflicted with my beliefs; I don't see why judges and justices of the peace should be held to a different standard.
